If any of you want your SP-89 or MP-5K SBR 3 lugged send me a email to [email protected] for a shot of mine.

S&H aka Curtis Higgins will do it on the original barrel for about $250. and 4 weeks turnaround time .

Great job just want to share the news.

Derek.

i had my SP-89 3-lugged by S&H as well. :)
To all the forum members that emailed me for shots of the 3 lug.

I will get them done tomorrow and send them along. If any of you want to post the shots and have the know how please do so.

Derek.

hard to gauge much on the quality of a barrel via photo.
this is my S&H 3-lug bbl conversion. hmm, barrel needs
cleaning.

That looks good and I like the idea of not removing the barrel from the trunion. How is the accuracy since the 3 lug conversion?
How do they actually attach the 3 lug to the barrel?
Also, is that some soft of laser on SP89? never seen anything like that... could you tell me some more?

They thread the outside of the barrel all the way to the triple frame, then screw the 3 lug adapter on and solder it into place.

If the 3-lug adapter is as long as the barrel, then it looks like a standard 3-lug barrel. If the 3-lug adapter ends at the lugs, then it leaves some of the threads exposed for a navy style barrel.

But I'm interested in the laser as well. Never seen one like that.
the conversion pictured above was a complete bbl swap rather than a 3 lug add-on to the OEM barrel. i had the original barrel returned to me intact.

the laser is vis/IR combo, and works beautifully with the AN/PVS-14. inserted within the K-grip's finger guard is a miniature toggle which selects desired beam. (you can see a glint of it in the first photo)

Raptor can is another add-on, which I selected and which co-exists nicely with the laser. tube's circumference allows laser to sight over and does not impinge on the beam.

unfortunately, no sear for me here in WA state.
I want to do the same for my sp89. Mine is 99% like new. Will it hurt the value?
Doesn't the barrel of a SP89 right at the front sight base, just like on a MP5K? I have glanced at a SP89 before but never looked inside the end of finger guard over the muzzle. If the barrel ends flush at the front sight base, there is no barrel to thread?

MP5K ends at the muzzle. MP5k-PDW has a threaded 3-lug.

I spoke to Curtis and he explained that he could weld onto the end of the sp89 barrel and attach the 3-lug adapter. You are right in that the sp89 barrel ends flush at front sight. I don't think anyone else is converting the sp89 barrels to 3-lug.
Raymond-

My sp89 will not allow the A3 style stock due to side plates and need for two rear pins ... what was done to yours besides the bbl / adptr conversion?

As does every MP5k and SP89 I've ever seen. Not too difficult to remove before a refinish, however.

- mill off side plates and refinish
- stock adaptor (made by S&H or Fleming), then shorten
by 1" and redrill pin holes
- MP5 A3 stock (no alteration needed)
- some SP-89 clones do not have side plates

I have some PDFs of old HKPro threads when they were on
the old server. If you think they will help, let me know and
I can email to you. about 6mb
Nick Hope charges $150 to add a 3 lug on the SP89. Last I checked it included the adapter.

He did a beautiful job on my 94 many years ago. He remarked, engraved, paddle mag (including parts), 3 lug (including parts), and refinished for $350 shipped with a 2 week turnaround. At the time S&H and Urbach wanted $1200-1400 but had a turnaround of 4-9 months.

I just happened to have rec'd email from Bill Fleming today. He indicated that
he currently has A2/A3 stock adaptors ready to ship, in case anyone is interested. He said that he has both long and short adaptors ($95, $120 respectively).

Just highlighting for folks because these adaptors, depending on conditions, are sometimes challenging to find so if you've contemplated such a mod, I'd suggest grabbing one now. They seem to hold their resale value pretty well too, over the years so I'm not too worried about recovering funds if I change my mind.

The short adapters are still $120.00 each shipped and the regular ones are still $95.00 each shipped. Both are in stock ready to ship.
Send me your number and a time to call if you want to place a credit card order. Or you can send a MO to:
