All of the SP5K buyers are waiting for their Form 1's, so they've gone silent.

I think a bunch are waiting on the B&T barrels as well.

Past that yea expect a year plus from now to see a bunch of info from people who have gotten their form 1's back.

New member- long-time HK fan. I have a fairly substantial collection, but the HK's are a more recent addiction.
Started with a VP9, then a couple HK91 clones/parts guns- and now the glorious SP5K.
I really love it- (OF COURSE!) but curious about a couple things.
Has anyone tried the 'brace' that looks very similar that to the folding stock? I know the NFA rules about shouldering from my MPX's, but I'm curious for some firsthand knowledge of how the brace compares/is different from the actual HK folder.
It's a VERY convoluted process to do an SBR in my state (stupid Illinois), so if I can get essentially the same net effect with the brace version, I'd be happy with that.
Also, while I go back and forth on the top rail, my biggest problem with it is the fact that it makes it difficult to manipulate, mainly when cocking it, but even on the slap; if I forget, and just run it, the it rips the £€% out of my fingers & hand. I really don't want to have to think about that, especially in an emergency scenario.
In the positive side, I have to say that not only does it work extremely well with my Sig Romeo4 red dot, but I really think it looks cool too.
But if I take it off for better access to the charging handle, I'm wondering if there's an equally effective- yet more 'sleek' optic option out there.
Thanks, glad to find the board.

Do a search on this forum. You'll see a lot of comments and pics by people who have set up their SP5K with a brace.

As far as the RMR goes, a lot of people are removing their top rail and using the B&T low mount on their 5Ks. It definitely looks better, but I don't have first hand knowledge with this setup.

The SB tactical brace that looks like a B&T side folding stock isn't out yet, it's supposed to come out this fall. They have a fixed version that is out now. I'm using the AR brace adapter from HK parts.net and added a Thordsen cheek weld kit I already removed from another pistol project. I also took off the factory mount and went with a B&T aimpoint mount. I like the B&T looking brace and will order one whenever they come out. FullSizeRender (1).jpg

Here's something to keep y'all dreaming of SBR goodness over the long ATF NFA Branch wait. While not and SP5K, you get the idea.

HK still hasn't filled a lot of preorders because they are being particular as to who they allotting SP5Ks to. Infact some of their authorize dealers can't order directly from HK. Hence there are waiting lists of people still waiting to get them.

I got to play with one recently so my activity is projected to increase dramatically here soon. HK keeps showing me things I had no idea I needed.

I just haven't decided if I want to shoot the one I have or get another and keep one as a safe queen and shoot the piss out of the other.

I took my old man out to the range yesterday and put a few hundred rounds through mine and he tried to take it with him. I'm acquiring a second from MM, I think my dad is going to pick one up from him as well. I'm scratching my head over why someone would sit on a list instead of buying one for a couple hundred bucks more.

Because despite how expensive firearm ownership is, gun owners are the cheapest bast*rds on the planet. They'll shower love and affection on their $2100.00 SP5K, then complain about the cost of magazines.

...just wait until all these Form-1s clear and the reality of the cost of stocks sets in. I can't wait for all the threads complaining about that...

Because buying it for a couple hundred less from a LGS was awesome. Being a respected customer instead of a sucker to be parted with his cash was awesome. Being pissed at the gouging and then having the LGS deliver was vindicating. I would be pissed if I was a distributer and was unable to get some for my customers because of an under the table back room deal. But that's just my opinion.

Nice having those options to run a variety of configurations.

I'm waiting to Form 1 as well as the B&T 1/2-32 tri-lug. Once I dress it up in the desired configuration then I'm sure that'll be the time I start contributing to the gun porn gallery.

Sounds like you have one and aren't sitting on a list, which is great but obviously not what I was talking about. I wonder if you got it in time to efile a form 1? I also must have missed the memo, but I can't recall the moment in time when selling a new item for below msrp became 'gouging'. Perhaps Mr. Maim is correct about gun owners.
