Took my new SP5K to the range for the first time today, I have to say I am SOLD on the roller-lock design, this thing is awesome! I don't know how to describe it accurately, but it's obvious that it is a full-auto design adapted to a semi-auto, it's just so quick. I was running drills to prepare for an upcoming USPSA match next weekend with my VP9 competition gun and also ran them with the SP5K. The SP5K is faster (granted, I didn't need to reload) and the splits were 0.16-0.19 vs. .19-.21 with the VP9. I was just using iron sights, but considering putting a red dot on it. BIG QUESTION: Can I shoot this in USPSA without a stock on it? It appears to not qualify for PCC since it doesn't have a stock, and not qualify for any other class since it's not in a holster.

Unfortunately it appears that the SP5K can't be shot in USPSA in stock form, has to be SBR'd to be eligible for Pistol Caliber Carbine class, and is not eligible for the pistol classes because it has no holster. :frown:

Took mine out for the first shoot today too, it was awesome! I've actually never shot any variant of this platform so was totally new experience. I actually didn't even clean mine first. Just put 250 flawless rounds of 9mm 124gr NATO through it.

A couple things I noted. 1) The receiver gets hot (obviously) and with the factory foregrip, your hand can't help but rub up against it. Once the Form 1 arrives I imagine the VFG will mitigate this. 2) I didn't know there was no last-round hold-open. No big deal, but thats how novice I am to the platform.

I was surprised by that as well. Had never fired one before the SP5K. Definitely slows mag changes a bit if you're used to an AR.

You guys need to get yourself an MP5 40. It has a BHO on it. But it's a wee bit bigger.

Or just get a Beta mag and don't worry about it.
