Awhile back I bought on of the USP Compact .45's at hkspecialist.com for what seemed like peanuts. LEM, Meprolight sights, not bright but still functional, 1 mag, no box. It didn't really knock my socks off, but I wanted to add one simply for comparisons sake to the HK45C, and as a case study on LEM prior to doing any mods on guns I cared about. When I got it it looked like crap and was dirty as hell. My LGS guy, a hardcore Glockaphile and competition shooter, didn't miss a beat in talking smack. I thought I might regret the purchase, but the original reasons for the purchase seemed sound enough, and I could always sell it if need be. I happen to know where thousands of HK hungry shooters hang out. :100000:

Lots of Hoppes #9, scrubbing, CLP, Milt sparks IWB I got for a song, and an HK45C mag release later I just can't seem to keep my hands off the dang thing. I don't know why, but everything about this gun just suits my CCW needs. I carried a Glock 30 for years until I broke the crap out of it. Somewhere along they way the Glock and it's .45 rounds became mostly a Winter carry piece, but this roughish looking roving warrior of a pistol has committed the old Glock and all it's new pins and springs to the safe, even over and above the HK45C.

Me being almost always a compact CCW kid of guy it amazes me how much I like it since I was never a huge fan of the USP Compact 9mm. As the temperature climbs and the clothes get smaller and less bulky the P2KSK will soon take over most days, with a smaller .380 for really small pistol needs and a P7M8 in a Del Fatti to really Gucci things up when need be. Until next season my friend, you and I shall be together again soon. :62:

So, anybody else ever buy a gun just 'cuz and end up liking it more than your "real" guns?

Yep. I experienced that phenomena about 6 years ago with another German firearm that shall remain nameless so as not to make any of my other HK's jealous. I shoot primarily 45's but as ammo prices rose I really wanted a 9mm simply so I could shoot more often but didnt quite have the money for an HK, nor did I want to save up for a gun I hadnt planned on shooting a ton. I just wanted something to fill in the gaps when things were a little tight. I purchased said German gun for about $450 new and ended up falling in love with the stupid thing! SO smooth and dead accurate! Before I knew it I was spending more to go to the range because I like shooting it so much. Sometimes **** happens and you get surprised. Either way, I chalk it up to a win in my book. I didnt break the bank, my expctations were low, and I still own it to this day and it shoots like a dream. The pistol Gods were smiling on me!
Now, if we had a thread on **** we thought we needed/wanted when it comes to firearms and ended up regretting....we should have about 15 pages of comments by dinner!

The P30 was that way for me. My USPc was at Gray Guns and I borrowed a P30 from a "friend". The USPc in now gone, as is the 45ct that was going to replace it. Other than the right side slide release (which I removed because of my big *ss thumbs), I find the P30 to be "the" pistol for me. May add a .40 P30S (thumbs again) with .357 and 9mm after market barrels, but may not.

yup! Actually happened with a Glock 30. I can't say that I liked it more than my USP but I liked it more than I expected to.

Loved carrying my USP .45 but it was just getting big on the hip so I needed a compact .45. Money was too tight for HK45c so I bought the G30 (thats the beauty of guns, if you ever want to sell them you'll get a good piece of your money back). Turned out to be a very accurate little sledgehammer.

Honestly enough I've gone back to carrying the full-size USP .45. I missed her and she missed me. Never sold the G30 though. She sits and waits for the hot summer days when it'll be very nice to dress light and to still be able to carry a .45...

What happened to your G30?
I broke the secondary trigger pin and trigger spring. I have had it since 1998 and it has seen well over 8,000 rounds. It wasn't so much the breakage but the fact that Glock acts like the product they make is perfect so if something broke it is your fault. They used to be great at customer service, and gun making for that matter, but they started cutting corners everywhere.

I have to admit that when I don't feel like strapping on a belt so I can wear the big gun, my wife's PK380 drops nicely in my back pocket for a quick trip to the corner store. Shoots easy breezy too, when I can pry it from her fingers at the range.

Yeah, my mistress is the PPQ.
I bought a First Edition PPQ 9mm last week. Been screwing around with my P2000 so much since then that I haven't shot it yet.

Hopefully this weekend I can run a few through it. I think it will end up just being an occasional range toy. I have been carrying AIWB exclusively and I'm just not sure about carrying the PPQ that way just yet.
