TommyBuilt Tactical T36 posted on Facebook 2/4 and he's gauging interest! Tommy did some work on my SL8 and his interests in fabrication have always caught my attention. I'm surprised (not surprised) it wasn't posted here already. Seems the G36 and UMP clone era is upon us!

At $1,000 for a receiver is reasonable, but good luck finding cheap parts kits! Either way, my interest is peaked and I'm interested in one.

@kbinmt that's what I'm here for! If the HK293 is imported with a rear end like the SL8, than I will pass and opt for Tommy's G36 receiver.

Maybe now is a good time to get some additional details on the T36, I'm assuming your can build this as a pistol? Availability? Price? @tbostic

I'll post up the info I sent you for everyone else to see!

It was $1200 for my G36C build using the T36 receiver, +$200 for the included case and foam cutting. Build quality is just above that of the SL8 conversions IMO. Tom uses oversized/thick steel reinforcement plates which he states brings it to an incredibly high integrity. He does his kit rewelds using the same process and has some rental guns made this way that he has not had or heard of any issues with. Tom's receivers are of identical material and density to the OEM G36 receivers as far as I can tell from a T36K I have had the opportunity to use and abuse.

It is an economical way of using a G36 kit and not having to toss the front trunnion area away. I love mine to the point that I have another G36C and an MG36 front end that I will be going the same route with. The added bonus is that you can do pistol builds with this that are, IMO, easier to SBR than rifle-length barreled alternatives.
