I've been told that the SAR 3/8 imported from Greece is the closest in quality you can get to an HK without paying HK prices....Any truth to that?
That's the legend. And few would try to dispute it. Very few.I've been told that the SAR 3/8 imported from Greece is the closest in quality you can get to an HK without paying HK prices....Any truth to that?
If you have a Greek made mag and would sell it let me know. I am looking for a 20 round EBO mag.Never owned an SAR3/8 but I've had some EBO parts pass through. IMO the quality of the fit and finish far surpasses other contract MFG's

The factory, 20-round magazine that came with my SA G3 was a plain, unmarked, SA, steel magazine!!! :biggrin:I don't think Hellinic manufactured mags, I've never seen one.
By the time EBO was contracted to produce the G3 there was probably no need for them to set up production to manufacture their own magazines.
All the Greek guns I've seen came in with early HK semi-lowers marked "S F". Same HK semi trigger packs also from what I can tell.unless you get the non Greek made lower .....
Correct!!! :biggrin:All the Greek guns I've seen came in with early HK semi-lowers marked "S F". Same HK semi trigger packs also from what I can tell.
Look into the PTR-91.I've been told that the SAR 3/8 imported from Greece is the closest in quality you can get to an HK without paying HK prices....Any truth to that?
This thread started almost 6 years ago... PTR has produced many 91 variants since then (and some before), but I concur with you. HK parts (especially furniture) drop onto/into my PTR without any additional fitting needed, and attention to build detail (welds, etc.) is excellent.Look into the PTR-91.
This may be an old thread, but the PTR-91 is the best deal in town! I love my GIR!This thread started almost 6 years ago... A bit of apples to oranges, but I also really like the Century Arms C308 -- clone of the CTME (and built from original surplus CETME parts, with new/US receiver and barrel), but shucks, the thing just shoots, and takes some 91 parts (esp. furniture).
I suppose it really depends on what one intends to do with it... plinking fun, serious defense, or somewhere in between (or combination thereof).
