Tips for installing "Stop Pin" and "clamping sleeve" in Sp5K Carrier

Hello!

Trying to swap out my Sp5K carrier for an RCM unit, I noticed that the RCM carrier is missing the stop pin and clamping sleeve.

In a ham fisted attempt to install one, I managed to break the stop pin I ordered.

Is there a trick to installing this while keeping the stop pin aligned? It seems I would need at least 3 hands to manage to hold the carrier, punch, roll pin, and stop pin all at once.

Thanks!

Update: Got a second pin in, and succeeded in installation.

The trick is to put the Stop pin into the clamping sleeve (roll pin) before installing in the carrier. With both parts flush, drop into the carrier and tap into place with a brass or nylon hammer; tap the set just below flush with a pin punch.

If you try to drop the stop pin into the hole, then install the roll pin, the stop pin will bottom out against the back of the carrier. As you tap the roll pin into place, the stop pin will wander/get pushed either outward (Toward the receiver rails) or inward (toward the locking piece channel). By the time the roll pin is in place, the stop pin is hopelessly sideways.

If that happens, the only way I could think of to start over was to break the stop pin in half with a punch and then push the roll pin all the way through its channel until it falls out of the hole in the side of the carrier. It's really important to use the right length roll pin ("Clamping sleeve"); a longer than specified sleeve would be nearly impossible to remove if it's too long to drop out of the hole in the side of the carrier.

Looking at the Sp5K carrier that came in my gun, the stop pin does not touch the opposite (back) end of the hole in the carrier. It looks to me like it's welded in place on the HK unit.
