I went ahead and bought a new P30L today. Pics when I get home. For anyone in SW Florida Shoot Straight in Ft Myers has them as part of their anniversary sale. $799 for a new P30L (plus an HK hat) I felt was too good to pass up. Maybe I'm wrong cause I didn't do a lot of research on the 'L' version. Couldn't pass it up.

NOTE: Sorry for the sideways pic. I hate technology!!

Congrats! That's an awesome price.
Thanks, TS for your words of advice during my HK search. I had no intention of getting the 'L' version but that price seemed really good. Any words of wisdom on the 'L' version versus the normal P30? I do have one quick question, why are these guns so "old"? Meaning collection envelope date of 2009. Seems like a lot of HKs I see are a few years old but clearly brand new dripping in grease and oil.

Congrats, hoghunter. The P30/P30L is a great pistol. I just ordered one myself from board partner lahilljack / Cross Creek Guns.

The only difference between the P30 and P30L aka Long Slide is the length of the slide and barrel.

I don't really know why there are so many "old" new H&K pistols out there, but sometimes I think it's because H&K takes so DARN LONG to ship their firearms! My local FFL has been waiting over three weeks now for supposedly "in stock" pistols to ship. Can an outfit possibly be weeks behind in shipping orders? If they are and I were running things, there would be new openings in the shipping department.

$996 on their website :(
Shoot Straight

Sent them an e-mail asking if they'd honor that price on-line and am hoping for the best.

Oh, and it appears to be out of stock.

Sale doesn't start until this weekend but I live in Central FL and had no clue about the sale. Their managers wear black shirts and I happened to get waited on by a manager. While I was waiting another customer wanted the sale price on a SW642 and that manager said no. No sale prices before the weekend. The mgr I worked with told me to come back this weekend for the sale price. I told him I lived 4 hrs away and couldn't come back as I was just passing through. He asked if I had a CCW (yes) and he glanced at the cash I had in my shirt pocket and said he would honor the sales price and sell it to me for $799. I didn't get the free earmuffs or solvent but I could care less. Not sure they will honor online as I expect these to sell fast at that price. Now I need to figure out how to explain to the wifey that $800 was a steal for a P30L !!!!

You're most welcome, hunter. Many HKs I've seen have sat on the shelf for a while before they got shipped. My P30L that I got from TGS also has an AK date code, though it is brand-new.

$998 is what I paid OTD at my local shop for an L v3.

Love your vids on YouTube. With tax, tag, title, undercoating included it was $852 OTD. What brand/grain ammo have you used for your 6200 trouble free rounds? I've got 115gr Lawman but it thought I read the 'L' may have had some light grain issues. That was the only hesitation I had on the 'L'. Every time I get a new pistol I stress over FTE or FTF issues.

They had an anniversary sale October last year and the P30/P30L were also advertised at the same price. They also had the HK45/HK45c for $899. I am hoping to pick up a P30 .40 and maybe another HK45C at their Tampa store next weekend. You can't beat that price.

Pickup some 124gr or 124gr +P ammo and break it in. Then after 100-200 rounds, you can shoot pretty much anything, except Hornadys.

Agreed.

Fortunately, I'd read a thread or two here about the P30 before I took my new P30 L to the range.

I ran two boxes of 124 gr. NATO and two boxes of 124 gr. +P Speer Gold Dot through mine on my first trip to the range.

It'll just devour any ammo I feed it now. :)

Thanks. that's a good price. I'm over 7500 now. Most of it in the beginning was Federal 115gr ball from walmart. Now I mostly run 124gr reloads with brass from tons of different manufactures but it still gets a good diet of the cheap stuff.

Lawman is good stuff but I've only used a few boxes of it. I've "read" a lot of internet stuff to about low grain ball not working right but I have not see that happen.

The P30's are very tight when new so play with the action (safely) and just put rounds down range. If it has issues, it wont be for very long. I have a habit of locking the slide back over night (time permitting) of all my new guns before I shoot them. I don't know if this actually does anything but I've never had break in issues with any gun I've owned.

I'll see if they reply today and if not, will try contacting them this weekend, thanks... I think.
