Any word on this yet?

Wondering when I can lay my hands on a cheaper HK45 to shoot and abuse, so my German one can stay nice as a range gun/back-up to the American one for on-duty purposes.

And don't expect the price of the weapon to go down when the US production starts!

In fact, me thinks they definitely won't be lower, perhaps even a bump in price for their yearly adjustment for costs...

I just wonder

I can't help wonder what the made in USA H&K will be quality wise. I hope it does not turn out like the made in USA SIGs did.:65:

Also, in addition to price going up...

I am very concerned about the US made Hk's getting more...."creative" in the form of USP "Classic - Special Edition Series". Gold engraved "Anniversary Editions". Charity Fund P2000's. HK45 new "Beavertail" Series (Special Edition -of course). Stainless framed USP/P2000 "Classics" (also Special Edition). Homeland Security 10th Anniversary Special Edition P2000. Hk "Personalized Home Defense Edition" with an engraved picture of your-self or loved one on gun. Hk "Elite" Series - Special Edition, with special "Custom" wood backstraps and/or side panels. Choppers theme USP full size Special Edition Series. Any Hk Pistol (insert movie, or NFL team), "Special Edition Series". And....finally, HK1911(SE); "Platinum, Diamond, or...Casino Special". P7R (Rail), Collector's, Anniversary, Charity, Platinum, Stainless, Beavertail, Diamond, Las Vegas, Soprano's Edition....take you pick or add your own. Adding HUNDRED$ and turning into a free for all along with many-many questionable aftermarket support! Endless....

Some of you out there (are already liking this), NOT good.

Dear Hk GmbH, PLEASE, PLEASE, do NOT let this happen.

Well, I'd embrace a modified Browning action "1911" from H&K. Though, to be truthful the HK45 is probably all we're likely to see. There's probably little motivation to drop the various trigger configurations to allow for further lowerering the bore axis as no military is asking for single action. I'd still like to see improve trigger pulls on H&K pistols, however.

Wilcox turns out some fine products. With their current track record, combined with HK maintaining good quality control, I'd say we're in good shape.

I really don't see any reason for quality to drop. H&K, it seems, is still making the frames and other things. All Wilcox is doing are CNC machined parts, AFAIK.

SIG quality did not fall off until a looooong time after U.S. production started. The 229, and excellent firearm was the first of the U.S. products way back in 92. Nobody complained. It wasn't until the "Kimberazation" of SIG by new management that problems began to pop up. I don't think HK's warming towards civilian sales goes that far.

As far as special editions, who cares? Except for the anniversary editions all they have been are a few doo-dads added by GSI in Trussville. There has been no change in the base guns. I think we are worrying too much. Almost all of this new is GREAT news for H&K's future.

Thinking about it kinda piss me off..

Why the hell did SIG-Sauer Germany allow their pistols line to be Kimberlize by SIGARMS US? Don't SIG-Sauer Germany have any control over the US made pistol?

SwissArms/SigSauer (Swiss and German) and SigSauer US really don't get along from all of the info that I have gotten over the years.

Well, if the frame and other components are made in Germany and Wilcox is making SOME of the parts, plus assembly and finishing, I think there should be SOME reduction in price, although not as much as I was first hoping (dreaming) of. Maybe down to $800-825?

Also, anyone heard any update/change to the rumor that the Wilcox barrels will be conventionally-rifled? (Apparently, barrels will be one of the parts Wilcox will be making, which I find ironic, since SIG and S&W import barrels from Germany [Sauer for SIG and Walther for S&W] for their American-made pistols...)

The barrels are to be made in Germany as Polygomal and shiped over here as blanks then finished by Wilcox.
