I can not for the life of me figure out how the springs on axel 2 are supposed to be oriented. I thought I knew what I was doing, should have taken a before picture... Please help me with a pic and or description of this area. Thank you

You just have to fuss with it. You almost need three hands. Use a punch to line everything up and then tap the pin in and let it push the punch out. It's very frustratining, even after the 2-dozen+ that I have done.

Thank you again. I found another pic and the spring on this one more matches what i have. Does the one spring arm go straight down and the arm with the curve go on top as shown?

Maybe i should just try again tomorrow

That one is a booger.
Thank you again for the pointers.
They are a huge PITA to get it right, when I did my swap, i got one of the springs not in the right orientation, and it stopped letting the trigger return :X

After I got it in the right spot, it's been 100% ever since. As Chopstix said, you almost need 3 arms :p

Yeah I hated doing mine. Used a punch to hold everything in place while doing 3 different things with two hands got old quick LOL

As you can see by everyone's comment, you weren't alone. Glad you got it!

They must have an Octopus at HK Oberndorf putting the UMP/USC SL8/G36 lowers together, I've never seen such a complex FCG (then again we don't get the Roller delayed HK guns up here)
The roller-lock FCGs are childs-play compared to the G36/UMP... with exception of burst packs. You only need two hands for those, but you do need to light some candles at mass, donate to your local charity, take your grandmother (and her friend) out for lunch and save a stray dog/cat. They MAYBE you'll get a roller-lock burst pack back together on the first try.

ok, 2 hours for my swap... what a pain. Longest part of course was the springs like everyone.
Question though, do i need to fill the front of the ump lower like the pics? is it a necessity or can i just put the pin back in a be done with it?

I filled mine in. When I installed the hammer springs, I could see them deflectingthe thin polymer that they touch. It might not have been the best thing, but I used jb weld to fill the area. I filled it to the bottom of that front pin hole, then reinstalled the front pin. I am happy with the way it turned out.
