USP-C 45 Has Arrived

I'm happy to report that I got a call from my dealer today who told me my USP Compact 45 was in and I could come by and pick it up tomorrow. Always anxious to see a new purchase, look it over awhile, take apart and get any grease out of it, lightly oil and finally to the range this Friday. Pics will be forthcoming late tomorrow. I already have 100 rounds awaiting it's arrival and may have time to add some more. I seldom buy factory as for $30/box I only do that when I'm testing SD ammo so Friday will be primarily reloads of 230 gr FMJ, 230 gr FMJ-FN and some 200 gr Speer SWC TMJ. I'm still not sure about the rifling in hk as to whether lead is ok or not since polygonal rifling doesn't "cotton" to lead bullets. The rifling is not as deep and there's no lands...from what I've read.

Congrats! That's probably my next HK. Have to have one! Pics and range report as soon as you're back form the range Friday! Great gun. I'm jealous.
Elijah-
I think that you will love it! I have had mine since Christmas and couldn't be happier w/ it. Heck, even my wife loves it! I'm thinking of looking for a Stainless USPc 9mm to match it now, but before I do that I need to think of how to convince my wife to let me do it!
Congrats on your USPc. Why pay $30/box when you can get it for $324.95 a case of 20 at SGammo.com?
Congrats on the new pistol! I would get another conventional rifled barrel if you want to shoot lead. I just reload FMJ (not plated!), and deal with the extra cost; while still saving cash and shooting more!

Let us know how it goes, and post up some pics when you have it in hand!
Congrats and echoing what williamthewolf said tenfold. I've had my eye on a USPc .45 for a long time and should just commit to buying one so I quit drooling and lamenting over not buying one over the years. It will definitely be my next purchase. Let us know how she shoots; I'm sure it'll be bliss.
You're in for a treat. . . congrats.
It's been over 11 years since I fell in love. Today was a new experience. It only took about 15 minutes for the dealer to run the background check and I got to play with it on the counter as I waited. After I got my receipt for the transfer, headed home and I haven't put it down since and that was about 3:30 and my dog's sighing because I haven't fixed his dinner yet and it's 5:52 here. This is one beauty. I took it apart, cleaned the grease out of it(it was bountiful) and lightly oiled it up and racked the slide several times. I had to see how well it would chamber and eject as is my customary routine with a new pistol. I just reached and got some reloads I was gong to take the the range Friday and put a couple in the magazine, racked the slide back and it chambered with no problem. However, when I tried to retract the slide for it to eject it locked up and wouldn't let me. I had to hold it and over hand run the slide back while holding the frame and the round fell out. My heart sank. I tried some Federal HST's and GDHP's and no problem. I'm not sure if it's going to like the Hornady 230 gr FMJ-FN bullets yet but it fed regular round nose FMJ just fine.Oddly enough, it fed and extracted the 200 gr Speer TMJ rounds like it was built for them...go figure. I'll worry about the other rounds later.

I had to take some quick pics as the lighting wasn't ideal in that I had to hand hold a 60mm macro lens and was shooting about 5:15 so, not tack sharp but I'll get better ones when there's better light. For the time being here's the few I took this afternoon.

A case of Ranger T (RA45T ) is about $315 at MAH. I know everyone's seen these before but...this one is mine!

Ooops...
Elijah- Great pics! Thanks for sharing! I love that gun! It's like a little tank.
Nice, Elijah. Now throw some night sights on that bad boy and you're good until the urge for the next HK comes up again.
I have night sites on the SW1911SC and they are nice. I may just enjoy this one as is for awhile. I'm hoping to soon hear from hk parts on the extended mag release as I can see a need for that.

Update on the ammo problems stated earlier. While the 230 gr FMJ-FN at the current seating depth works in my Commander and 1911, it's too long for the chamber of the hk by maybe .025" as the rim of the case is sitting up higher above the barrel hood. I never thought to check that but since I already had the ammo made I can't do much to change that now. I'll have to remember for the hk to seat it at 1.230" instead of my current 1.255".

I have one on my carry(ext. mag release) USPc 9mm. I gave away a good amount of part's or i would have some flat base plate's for you to try. Congrat's and if i get a extented mag release before you i'll PM you since i have the one's i really need for now. Good to know you found about the ammo situation.

Many thanks-I figured there must be something about that particular bullet/cartridge that was different. When I took the barrel back out and dropped the round in that's when I saw the rim sticking a bit too high. I reseated a few to 1.230" and it worked like a charm. Actually, that's the COAL Hornady recommends for that bullet but I like to seat them out as much as I can for pressure's sake and it works good in the others but the HK chamber must be a bit shorter.
