I recently purchased a like new, USP Compact 9, that has a stainless slide. First stainless slide HK I have owned.

My initial impression, while dry firing, is that I am getting reflections off the back of the slide that are drawing my attention away from the front sight. Anyone else noticed this? A possibility would be to have the slide coated, although it seems a shame, given my perception of the relative desirability of a stainless slide USP C.

In some production years, the stainless slides are "shinier" than others. I prefer the more matte version for aesthetic reasons, but have never had a reflection issue with any of them. First, I would try it in natural light and see what you think. If you don't like it still, I suggest selling it and buying an all black version. You'll have money left over. The SS USPc 9's sell pretty well here on the forum. If it was my gun, I wouldn't refinish it. Just throwing money at a problem with a much easier fix.

I would just take some very fine steel wool to the back of the slide and knock off the shine, no one will ever notice it but you, just go easy, it wont take much.

Honestly if it were mine, I would send it to a very well known pistol smith and have the rear of the slide serrated 50 lpi
