So I traded off my Expert for a couple regulars. Both of the guns are great, however one of them had some very visable holster wear. In an attempt to get it taken care of, I had a couple of friends do a parkerizing job on the slide, slide stop, and extractor. They however boogered it up. My parts came out dark brown with a hint of gray... I was asked if I would like them blued to take care of the problem by the same guys that messed it up, to which I kinda laughed, and walked away (should have taken the time to do it myself). I decided that I wanted a different look so I set forth with sanding paper, very fine sanding paper, then polish. Two days later, I have my newly made over Hk USP f/s 45. I love it.

^Those are not scratches in the slide on top, well they are, but they are reflections of the scratches on my bench.

I love it! Great looking polish job! I've done some aluminum polishing before, but what did you work with besides the sandpaper? Any special compounds with a wheel? I've thought about brightening up one of my stainless USPs a little bit, but not sure how I want to approach it.

I started with a lot of sanding... I began with 320 and stuck with it till all the machine marks were out of the slide. I stepped it up to 400 and went till all of the 320 was out, and did the same up to 600. After the 600 I used Mothers chrome and mag wheel polish with a dremel. I learned that if you go at a slow speed, it takes forever. If you go too fast, it screws up your finish really fast and you have to start back at the 400. I use a dremel 200l on low and it works perfect. You can pick up the sand paper, dremel, and polish all at your local walmart for about $45 if you don't already have the stuff. Do know however that if you leave any deep lines in the gun, the polish will draw them out like a sore thumb, so if you do this, be prepared for a lot of sanding work. I was going to do this to the second one and then blue it so it would have been a mirror black finish, but it was just too much of a pain in the ass for me to want to do again any time soon. I will though, just not now.

Another thing, a lot of people have asked about the glare from the sun, or light reflections in general off the top. I will say that there are none unless you look down the gun and directly into the sun. It is nonexistant. I will say that it has to be the flat surface of the top to contribute to that.

it just came out in the last 6 months IIRC correctly, i saw it in theaters in 2012. But damn man. that gun is sexy. If i have a black usp can i polish, then blue it like you said? or do i have to start with a stainless gun. Im going to do my SP101 357 next rainy day...

I saw it is coming out, oh look, today... I need to get to bed... Anyway, it's not a stainless gun, it's the normal slide, I treated it however.
