I have an older USPF S/S in 40S&W in varaint 1. I find that when practising speed drills I often will decock. This has also happened in a couple stressful situations. I'm wondering how I might go about converting my V1 into a V9 to avoid the accidental decock.

I used to have that problem with a USP .45. I switched to V-9 and it did fix the problem.

However I did not like not having a decocker.

I eventually retrained myself away from my 1911 roots (riding the safety) and learned to sweep the safety off and rest my thumb against the frame, with the knuckle of the thumb touching the underside of the controll lever when it's in the fire position.
This gives me a tactile reference to know that the pistol is off safe and ready to fire. If I don't feel the lever, it's on safe and I know it.

Changing from V-1 to V-9 is a easy detent plate swap. Check your owners manual for the proper detent plate part number.
