USP9-SD jet funnel, hammer spring question/problem.UPDATE or HK CS rocks!

First, I have spend the best part of the night searching for an answer, but my search foo has failed.

So, I have recently acquired an USP 45 Tact and USP9-SD over about two months. I received the 45 tactical first and instantly fell in love, especially with the trigger pull of the match system. I also had a P30 and decided to sell it to fund the USP9-SD. About two weeks ago I was able to trade the P30+cash for an excellent USP9-SD with Jet funnel and night sights installed. I am the third owner and the best I can tell, the gun had limited use beyond the factory ('06 gun with minimal wear on barrel hood, no wear on front of barrel, recoil spring lockup to barrel, and slide stop, in original tactical case with all the goodies). When I received the 9-SD, I thought the DA trigger pull was even lighter than the 45 Tactical which didn't make sense without the match kit (checked hammer, no 'S' on 9-SD). First time at the range, I was getting light primer strikes with good ammo (Federal HST and American Eagle). When I got home, I tried replacing the hammer spring with a Wolff 10lb HS that the seller of the 45 Tactical had shipped. Felt exactly the same as the HS in the 9-SD. So I ordered a factory 12lb HS from hkparts.net and hit the range again today. Still getting some light strikes, certainly enough to not trust it for HD duty. With the 12 lb HS the 9-SD DA trigger pull still felt lighter than the 45 Tactical. So I tried pulling the HS from the 45 Tactical and put it in the 9-SD felt exactly the same, still much lighter than the DA pull with the same HS in the 45 Tactical.

The one thing I noticed when changing the HS back and forth is that the resting tension of the same 12lb HS in the 45 Tactical and 9-SD is quite different. Before installing the lanyard pin/roll pin the block of the 45 Tactical rest out of the frame much more than the jet funnel block of the 9-SD. Is this normal? Is why the same 12lb HS feels/acts much weaker in the 9-SD with the Jet Funnel? I need to get the 9-SD reliable as it needs to replace the P30 for HD duty (I know some may argue that the 45 would work better in that roll, but my wife is much more comfortable with the 9mm). Any input is greatly appreciated!

The first picture is the 45 Tactical and the second, the 9-SD. The last picture is the whole family so I don't get in trouble for not showing the new purchases.

Just a thought, but make sure the firing pin channel is clean and dry. If one of the previous owners decided to put lubricant into the firing pin channel it may be very gunked up in there, which can lead to light primer strikes.

Also, how about trying a new factory HK hammer spring in the pistol?
Definitely will check the firing pin channel. The 12lb hammer spring I tried is a factory new spring.
So I think I figured out the issue. I trolled through goggle images tonight looking at pics of the hammer spring block. The block in my gun has an oval opening about 8mm deep that the HS sits in.

The pics I see on google image look like there should be an insert that fills the space and would certainly put more resting pressure on the hammer spring.

Will try calling HK CS tomorrow and see I can get this clarified. And anybody has jet funnel laying I would love to know what the inside of you HS block looks like.

Here is a pic found with the "insert" in the HS block.

I called HK customer service today hoping to confirm my suspicions and hopefully be able to buy just the lanyard block without having to replace the entire Jet Funnel kit. They quickly transferred me to an armorer. I described the problem and he was equally concerned. He told me that there had been some quality control issues with the Jet Funnel parts as they are not manufactured by HK. He then offered to send me a new lanyard block and a couple of factory hammer springs in case the one I purchased was out of speck. The really kicker was that he sent them out via FedEx and said I should see the parts by monday! Now that is customer service, especially since I am the third owner of this gun and they no warranty responsibility to me. This is the first time I have had to call HK, and as you can expect, I am totally delighted. Certainly will encourage me to continue to buy more HK products and use HK-USA for all maintenance issues. Will update again when the parts arrive.
I received the replacement lanyard block and a 14lb HS from HK. With the new lanyard block, the HS still does not have that much tension. I added the factory 14lb HS which helped, but still is not as strong as the 45 tact with a 12 lb HS. I will give it a try at the range tomorrow and see how it works with the 14lb HS.

Out of curiosity, could somebody with a USP/Jet funnel pull the roll pin and take a picture with the gun upside down? Just want to see how far it comes out compared to my picture above.
Thanks
Still getting light primer strikes. I'm convinced something is up that I can't explain. The DA pull is just way too light with a 14lb HS. Sound like it may be taking a trip to HK to figure this out. Which probably means I just have the match trigger installed.

This is what the lanyard block for my Jet Funnel looks like, it looks different than yours...

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the picture. This confirmed my suspicions. It looks like there should be a plastic block sitting in the recess that would raise the resting position of the hammer spring, which should generate greater resting tension. I will speak to hk tomorrow and pass along your picture. The part they sent me and original one from my gun does not have that insert.

You are most welcome. I appreciate helping whenever possible. :)

Something is definitely amiss with your lanyard block. I did not investigate further as to whether mine had a plastic insert. Might be a good excuse to take it apart again.

But when I saw the picture you posted of the top of your lanyard block, something instantly struck me as being unfamiliar. The hammer spring is certainly sitting much lower and providing less tension. Light primer strikes, even with factory fresh hammer springs, makes complete sense now.

Furthermore, I am perplexed as to why the replacement sent by HK was the identical to the original and therefore did not fix the problem.

Major props to you for figuring out the problem.
A picture is a worth a thousand words! I sent your pic and mine to the Hk armorer last night. He realized the issue instantly. When he went to the parts bin he grabbed two blocks and one was also missing the insert. He accidentally packed the wrong one. The cool thing is when I spoke to him this morning he already had the correct one packed up and in FedEx's hand.

No sure how Hk got the bad rap for their customer service, but Jesse Teague is a star! I suspect this mostly another bad Internet rumor.

Again, thanks for the pic.

Glad HK took care of you. Now, who is Jesse Teague? I know Travis's last name is Teague, but is this his brother?
