Can anybody tell me what barrel VECTOR uses on their v51 builds. I found one that was built by vector on an FMP reciever w/4" IGF flash convert to G3k. The barrel has the proper grenade ring, paddle mag and looks ghreat. ARE there any cons on this specific build by vector. Any input would be appreciated.

Over the years Vector has used various barrels on there firearms, depending on availability of surplus barrels (pre barrel band executive order) and current domestic supply at the time. I am most familiar with their 223 product line over the years, having already had the 308 notch filled with HKs.

I am confused. Are you saying that the gun is a 51 and has a 51 barrel with a 4" extension by IGF that is usually used to make G3k rifle barrels 16" therefor making the V51 in question a 51 with about a G3k length barrel? A 51 barrel is about 8.5" depending on who made it, and the G3k is 12.4", so a 51 with the IGF extension would be about 12.5", about the length of the G3k barrel.

So what I wondering is if you want a 51 that has a barrel length of the G3k? If you do, what is the reason? Just for looks? It is still a pistol or SBR if you put a stock on it and you just put a 4" flash hider on a 51 barrel. Are you wanting a 51 gun with a G3k barrel and a 4" IGF extension so you can use a stock without a stamp?

Have a photo of that if that is the setup you mean?

I doubt vector used fmp receivers, if it is a fmp receiver it should have FMP markings somewhere.... I believe fmp marked their receivers on the right site of magwell or top rib(if I remember right).


If that is the vector you are talking about the best thing to do is ask the seller to check for any markings on the barrel (should be close to the trunion area).if it's a contract or German barrel it will have markings. If not then most likely it's a US made barrel....

Yes df662, it is that one. He said no markings on barrel but he did say maybe RCM. GHIllie please PM me. I thought vector used green mountain,I hope it has the rcm barrel. Waiting to here back from him. Thanks guy,s.

I believe all of the RCM G3K barrels are marked RCM?

Ain,t buyin it now. Ghillie told me that Vector used ORF flats and they have the rounded NOT squared rails. Thanks guy,s for saving me from buying this. I,m going to send my rifle and g3k parts/RCM barrel to GHILLIE instead. I love this site.

Just so you know there are ORF flats out there with flat rails although most likely those were not used by vector.

And a while back I did own a v53 made out of the MKE flats. Even though it had rounded rails it accepted a a3 stock without a problem.

If it would have had the FMP receiver,I would have sent the check already. LOL hahaha.
