Hello. About a year ago a friend from work purchased a VP9. I shot it at the range, liked the pistol but shooting left handed I would put pressure on the slide release causing the slide to not lock open on an empty magazine. Other then that nice pistol. As I am heavily invested in the Glock platform it really did not matter to me, I had no interest in switching pistols. Now flash forward my friend wants to sell the pistol. He did not shoot it much and his price is good. I would not mind having the pistol. I would still carry a Glock. I was wondering to solve the problem of me putting pressure on the slide release, what if I removed/shortened it? I could cut it close to the pivot point and smooth it out. About the only negative I could think of would be decreasing the guns value. Any other negatives I am not thinking of? At this point in my shooting carrier I am not going to change my grip. I slingshot my slide on all guns and do not use a release.
