What am I missing about this announcement?

Saw this on the SSD blog today:
And They Said It Would Never Happen « Soldier Systems

Hasn't there been mi-spec pin compatible MR556A1 uppers on the market for some time now?

Those uppers have been parted out from complete MR rifles. Like the 416 upper kit, this is just the upper only so hopefully that it is a sanctioned by HK, the price gouging for uppers will subside for those that just want the upper.
