I recently purchased a KG date coded Mark 23 that came with a black case with the usual internals. I know the camo case is standard for KG dates, and through research on this site have seen KH date code pistols come with black cases. My question is, are there any KGs out there that came with black cases? See below for a picture.

My experience has been that both my KG's shipped in camo cases. However, i also have two usp45 tacticals that came in camo cases. It has been discussed here before but I really think it came down to what cases they had on hand at the time. I have seen Mark 23's in camo cases, black cases and gray cases and if it was a tan Mark 23 a tan case.

Based on my data, I have seen: :biggrin:

1. All KG/96 in the camo nylon cases;
2. Error;
3. Gray/black nylon cases were not "prevalent" until KI/98 and KK/99;
4. One (1) AC/02 in the gray nylon case;
5. Ten (10) AE/04, shipped to South Africa, in black nylon cases;
6. One (1) AE/04 in a black nylon case; and
7. One (1) AE/04 (European Model) in a black nylon case.

Is yours the original case--- possible, but not probable, on a KG/96.

I know you know this Tony, but I did want to add this for those that may not know.

All tan Mark 23's came in the tan Eagle case.

Also, I wanted to get a mention in for the most awesome Mark 23 ever, the tan!

This is correct--- but unlike the black models, the exact number of tans meant an exact number of tan cases to be produced--- also, it appears that the black nylon cases were utilized for export--- thus, if a black nylon case was available in 1996, then it is plausible that a few could have been used then--- just my theory!!! :biggrin:
