My local shop got 3 in and I'm earmarked for one, but am having second thoughts as I've read some not so great reviews. My local shop said they will take care of all the warranty work if the gun doesn't run well and that I have till Thursday to purchase as he has other buyers lined up. Oh, he's also selling it for $150 more than Atlantic...
So, what do you folks think? Get it or wait till a better deal comes along?

Yes, I read that, which is why I'm having second thoughts. Although, the owner of the shop is a stand up guy and he says he'll take care of all warranty work. A few years back, I bought another gun from him which was a complete lemon. He gave me a full refund after several months of trying to get the weapon to run.

Wow, how did your dealer get the BA89s? The last I knew Todd wouldn't ship to CA. As far as the pistol, as with Century guns, Todd's guns are hit or miss. Maybe you'll get one that runs, or maybe you'll get one that won't run. You know this going in. So as Dirty Harry used to say "Do you feel lucky, punk?". YMMV.

The Bellator 89K cuts some corners IMHO:

Non-fluted barrel
No three lug barrel
MIM bolt-head

If Todd were to fix these, I would probably buy one.

MKE 89K a better deal, or BMP 89k barreled receiver + RCM BCG + cap + semi grip/pack.

YMMV.

I wouldnt. I did the HK clone thing with an MKE, which is about as close to 'authentic HK' as the clones get, and I still had odd, sporadic issues that I couldnt ever nail down.

I ditched the thing before I sank too much money into it and cancelled the tax stamp that I had submitted.

The BA guns cut corners that even the MKE's dont. There have already been reports of problems, as you noticed.

Its kind of like Taurus firearms. Sure they have a lifetime warranty regardless of the issue or owner, but what the hell good is that if youre always having to use the warranty?

Just my opinion, but if I were to ever get back into the MP5 game, I'd just go big and get the high dollar, top shelf stuff.

I've got one. (that was my post about the issues). In spite of the issues, I like it. I would probably like one of the high end builds better, but only had so much to spend and i've got nothing to compare it to.

The warranty probably would have taken care of my issues, but i'm a hands-on kind of guy and impatient. I like to fix things and wanted to tackle this myself. If you've read the thread about the headspace issues, I've got them ironed out. I just pressed out the barrel and re-installed it the other day. Now i've got a nice gap of .016 with all the RCM parts and standard rollers (used to be .035 w/-6 rollers using the rcm parts). Dumped a mag last night as fast as i could without a single failure. Today I'm going to blast, park and repaint everything.
As it stands, I've got 1100 + a new bcg $500 = 1,600 into the gun and it seems to be working perfectly. Now, I could have added a three lug barrel, but i like the look of the flush front and it would have cost another $175 or so. Unfluted chamber is actually a plus for me since i reload and have been told that it is better on brass... who knows.
If I had $2500 to spend i definitely would have gone the professional build route, but I didn't.

It's just another Toidy Bowl product. Yuck! If you buy one, good luck.

The only problem I would address MIGHT be the MIM bolt head. I don't intend to get into 3 lug suppressors and it's been well proven that the 9mm HK/clones do not need fluted chambers at all. Correction... ALL straight walled cases can function perfectly without fluted chambers... including .40, 10mm and .45acp. All the very early SW5 clones I had ran well and none of them had fluted chambers... and RCM also made the early, non-fluted barrels for Todd.

I dunno... like the Vector 53s and the Century C-93s. Ya pays yer money and takes yer chances. Many work very well out of the box. Only a few of their customers actually come here, but here is where we hear the most vocal of complaints, so... ?? It's up to the buyer.

Ive got one thats been a headache from the start. I finally got it to run with an RCM bolt head but with -4 rollers i still have .026 bolt gap. Oh and the RCM or HK locking piece wont fit the crappy one piece bolt. My advice is if you really cant afford anything better just order the complete RCM bolt group before even buying the gun and save yourself some headaches.

It's funny how he vehemently denies having his hand on the weapons, just supplying the parts to them…

He's FOS too. Black-Market-Parts is his company. The same company that supplies the parts. The same company that builds them. The same company that sells them. Which part of this does he not have his hand on????? I'm confused.
