Many builders make reverse stretches, not just Dakota Tactical. See pic below. The only difference from a K gun to a reverse stretch is that the rear of the receiver is about 1/2" longer and there is the ability to add A2 and A3 stocks without modification or adapters. Also, you can use a regular MP5 lower instead of a K lower.

Well since nobody actually answered your question, I'll give it a go...

Traditionally, in the olden days, a "stretch" was taking an SP89 and modifying it to be longer and more like a full sized MP5/HK94. So that's the history of a "stretch" design. I think it was popular because the HK94 got banned before the SP89 and the guys getting the SP89 were just trying to make do with whatever they could get... so they stretched the SP89. See, get it...

Nowadays, things have changed a little. So the reverse stretch is more of a squeeze design. They start out with a full size MP5/HK94 type receiver and make it shorter. That's why it's a "reverse" stretch. In some weird sense of tradition, they kept using the word "stretch" as an indication of changing the length of a receiver/gun, not specifically limited to making them longer. So the "reverse stretch" title caught on, meaning the opposite of a stretch.

"Stretch" = longer barrel on MP5K type receiver (you are "stretching" the MP5K barrel to a longer MP5 barrel length)

"Reverse Stretch" = longer receiver on your MP5K barrel (you are "stretching" the shorter MP5K to the longer MP5 length)
