Since these guns come with Gen 1 bolt heads, can they only accept the old-style plate retainers? Or is it possible to use the Action 3 wire retainers? Thanks!

They are a Gen 1 bolt requiring a retaining plate, but do have a scalloped face like an Action 3 bolt head, but they are not because the Action 3 bolt head requires a wire spring. HKparts does have a wired plate upgrade that you can use, but i'd just stick to the plate.
