looking to get some work done on an early PTR that is 50/50 on what ammo she will eat. what do yall think about this? ive heard PTR uses oversized Barrel pins so rebarreling thins the wall of the trunnion to the point that it can fracture. have any of you folks successfully had these re-barreled or barrel work done?

1. weld up a Pic rail on top
2. paddle mag release
3. deepen flutes in the chamber slightly for better ejection of crappy surplus ammo (important one) I know Mr. Hart did it for a while.
4. cut barrel down and pin/weld a Griffin Taper Mount brake (overall barrel length with pinned brake should be maybe 16.5")

Members here seem to be very pleased with Jeff (ghilliebear2000) at PCS -

I know @ghilliebear2000 told me years ago he wont rebarrel PTR rifles due to the large barrel pins. i was going to have him do it before i moved to communist new england but was turned down. i just put the re-barrel job off and now ive had the rifle in storage for the last 7 years, im looking to get it done again.
