I just ask because I just realized today that I have one German (AK) HK45c and one American (AI) HK45c. At the range they both performed as world class, navy seals, kick ass pistols, and to be honest I love the idea of owning a American made pistol (that isn't a knock against German stuff). The only difference I've noticed it the American one has a "P" with a liberty bell symbol and the German one has the antler markings. Also the HK barrell from the US one has markings on both sides... Anyway are any of you weary of buying American made HK's? We see the difference between American Sig's and the old west German Sig's.

If I were to buy an HK45 before I looked at it and it happened to be American made I would throw my money down on the table just as quick as I would if it were German made. There is no difference, HK USA is just as tightly regulated as HK Germany. I would actually hope for a US HK45, I like to support my fellow hard working citizen's of this country.

I have a US assembled/made? HK45C, also have P30, P2000SK and P2000 made/assembled in DE..

I dare anyone to find a difference in fit finish, parts, assembly. Quality through and through.

I'd gladly buy any US made HK pistol or Rifle.

The only HK pistols that ever interrested me are the P7/M78 series. Make them in blackened stainless in Germany or the USA and of high quality and I might buy one

So it is a Liberty Bell. What does the "P" stand for?
Philadelphia mint?

Past history has shown foreign guns manufactured in the USA are problematic from a QC standpoint, so I'm happy to hear that is not the case with HK's.
Usually the problem seems to come down to inexperienced workers and a desire to keep the resulting scrap rates low. If they are willing to eat the learning curve scrap and keep QC high, things should work out okay.

My USP is German but I'm looking at HK45s and haven't seen a German one yet. I wouldn't have a problem buying one made in USA. I've heard that HK has taken great measures to ensure quality in the US made guns.

That being said if there were two HK45s in front of me one from USA and the other from Germany. I'd buy the German one. Cant beat original and Germans make two things very well. Cars and guns :25:

....oh and BEER :)

I personally would rather have it made in Germany for many reasons. Like it was stated before I don't mind the workers being employed by all means kudos for that but if I am paying for a German made pistol at a $1000 and am buying one in the USA for the same price then I have an issue. Since there is no importation tax and other costly shipping and etc. then the ones being built here should no where be as expensive. Just my thoughts. Sigs were like that then their QC went down the tubes like anything else we do in the USA. people tend to get laxed after a period of time. Hate to say it but we are our own worst enemy. The work force today has lost their pride in making quality items. That doesn't just go for guns but everything in our homes.

I think the amount of German overseers, and the fact that everything beside the molding of the frames is made in Germany will keep HK on the right side of the QC spectrum. Things can be made here well, as long as the specs stay rigid. They have been making pistols here since 2008, and have kept their QC right on track.
