WTK interest in pistol flash hiders?

I'm considering machining some flash hiders for the Mark 23 and USPs (45 tactical, 40 cal, and 9mm). The flash hiders will be of various designs (striaght four prong, vortex, birdcage, three prong).

I'll probably make some thread protectors and replica (non functional) suppressors. Is there any interest from USP owners?

Material will be hardened steel (parkerizedand/or Gunkoted) and stainless steel (matte blasted finish and/or Gunkoted).

I posted this in the handgun talk forum but there was no response. I'm not sure if everyone checks the pistol forum as much as the rest of this site. The 9mm flash hiders will also work for the SIG 226 threaded barrels.

Got any specs? what grade of steel? Length (overall and working) will the mark23 for example have the offset so it tightens it, rather than loosening it (like the original style)

I think CCF used 4140 grade chrome steel...

Any approximations for price? or would that change depending on how many people ask?

Good luck!
Hardened steel and 300 series stainless. Flash hiders length will be 2" (longer/shorter upon request). Several style hiders to choose from (vortex, four prong, birdcage, vortex/birdcage, and compensator style).

Some hiders will index with a jamb nut while others will not. I'm trying to make quality stuff that's affordable (I'm not gonna quit my day job). Most of the flash hiders will run about $40-$60 depending on style.
just curious what would be a good use scenario for a flash supressor... I'd like to get one for kicks, but need a good reason as surely the NYPD folks at my range will call me out on something like that.
obviously, hiding the flash :p

Although a lot of the CCF vortex users say that it improves accuracy... somehow. So if you get one and it tightens your groups, then you can say its a flash hider/accurizer...

Id like to have one of these too. The versions for the mark23 would need the openings to be cut so that the gas torqe tightens it, rather than loosening it:

The 'old style' would be fine for the USP Tacs, or anything with the left-handed threads.

I'll make a few flash hiders and post when it's finished. I have to finish up one current project. I'm guessing a few weeks, either before or after Christmas.
I would be interested in a USP 45 Tact flash hider.

Are there more than one flash options availble?

I like the CCF four prong but it seems to be missing something on the sides? Not like racing strips or anything but it looks flat to me, kinda cheap looking.

Does anyone else see what I see? Probably just me.

Yes, there will be several designs to choose from. I'm guessing four prong, vortex, birdcage style, vortex birdcage, and sinle port compensator.

Here's a few examples that I'm planning to make. From left to right, compensator, vortex birdcage (Note the slanted cuts. These should self tighten due to the slanted cuts. Regular birdcage hider will have straight cuts rather than slanted cuts.), vortex design, and threaded slanted birdcage. The compensator will come with a jamb nut for indexing.

Is that enough bling bling?
My vote is the two middle ones pictured. Both look mean.
I wouldn't consider either ones 'bling' though. Maybe with a SS finish they would be but park'd, no.
I like the left most black one next to the stainless. Now, I'll need to buy an HK with threads on it. Hmmm, how am I going to squirrel away the cash for this......
Definatly the vortex and vortex-birdcage... id go with votex as first choice :D
I will work on these over the holidays and should have a few ready in a few weeks. The first ones will be for the Mark23 and .45 Tactical, followed by the .40 and 9mm models.
Bump

if you make Vortex Birdcage for the mark23, i'd like to get one of them... thought about it and the vortex BC looks the best...

+1 if the price is right.
he said somehwere around 40-60 bucks (depending on model) which is a lot lower than the CCF ones. Definatly okay price in my mind.
Update

I have narrowed down the flash hiders to three designs. I have (5) flash hiders threaded already (2 for the Mark23 and three for the Tactical 45) and ready for machining tomorrow.

The flash hider on the left is a spiral (vortex). The one in the middle is the vortex birdcage and the one on the right is my newest flash hider (Phantom vortex) which has a jagged front face. Before machining away tomorrow, which ones should I make?

i'll take a Vortex-Birdcage (middle) for the mark23 if you make one. just PM me shipping info + price, and i'll get a money order sent. Might not make with 1-1.5 weeks (as they usually do) as christmas time is hectic. :D
I should have some finished tomorrow evening. I'll PM you when they're finished.
awesome :D
