Hello,

I came across (2) Special Weapons SW5 cast Sainless Steel receivers with complete parts kits. All new in box and consecutive SN#'s.

Receiver is top marked just in front of the rear sight with SN#:
CY-0xx.

Right side of magwell is marked:
Special
Weapons INC
SW5 9mm

I need to know how much its worth. I will try to post pics soon(I guess I dont have attachment posting privileges so I'll post some links) of the first kit so let me know what you think.

DJF,

Thanks. Please see pics I just posted. Receiver and associated parts are in the white. Stainless barrel has the trunion attached. Cocking tube is ribbed like HK and has hanger spot welded on. Everything else(bolt carrier, lower, front sight and furniture is included to assemble a complete weapon. Lower is probably not hk but contract. Not sure of imported or US made parts other than the receiver and barrel. The complete kit did come in a box as a set so I assume it was ready to be assembled.

Thanks,

Since these are not really collector grade pieces, the consecutive numbers is only interesting if you think it is. The only real way to determine what they are worth is to post them for sale (after you research what receivers, parts kits ,etc are selling for). If the bolt and carrier are HK marked it is better. The barrel and trunnion look US made from where i'm sitting on the opposite coast.

Are you selling or buying them?

Some say the cast receivers are the more desirable as they are tough and will last forever and others prefer the sheet metal for HK appearance accuracy. Either way, whoever builds them will have to check the assembled barrel and trunnion for bolt gap before welding to the receiver. Just because the barrel is IN the trunnion doesn't mean it was done right... and that's something you'd rather do outside the gun.

Thanks for the input regarding bolt gap. I'll research how to do that. And I'll try to post detailed pics of all parts of the kit. I acquired the 2 parts kits in a trade and would like to know value so I can sell them.

I'll pay you the price of similarly sized jack stands for them. Ok, ok, maybe just a bit more.

retro,
that is probably still more than what shattered will offer! trojan, can't quite tell from the photos you have there, one thing to keep in mind the cast receivers are alittle different approach to building. They are their own animal per se'.

OK...everyone. I finally posted pics as best I could of the SW5 Cast Stainless Receiver and complete parts kit. Let me know what you all think. Receiver is New in Wrap still but I had to unwrap the other parts as they were all sealed in factory plastic. Carrier looks cast to me. Bolt looks like machined stainless. Rollers are unmarked. Recoil tube has a screw one end!!! Handguard looks USA made but stock might be contract as internal metal shows slight wear(both have pins). Lower looks contract but ejector looks like is was USA made. Barrel is really nice wit h12 flutes and the trunion looks new. Cocking tube looks USA made, shelf support looks contract as well as front sight assembly. Charging handle looks usa made of plastic and aluminum due to anodized look of metal. Rear sight also looks contract.

So there you have it. Input as to value of complet kit including receiver will be gratly appreciated.

Thanks,
Trojan
