VP9 Trigger Safety

Hello, I am a new VP9 owner and completely new to this forum. I just finished semi successfully installing a LWG trigger on my VP9. I had a hell of a time getting the trigger stop bolt out, and in the process dislodged a small rectangular piece of metal. I couldnt for the life of me figure out where it came from so I proceeded with the install. When I finished I realized the trigger safety was not working. I was able to pull the trigger without having to depress the safety. So I'm assuming this piece is what engages the safety. But where does it go? Can it be put back, or glued back into place? Or do I need to replace something? I don't want to disassemble the firearm again until i know it can be fixed.

Any and all help is appreciated. If anyone can take a photo of where this piece goes that would be amazing!

Thank you for your help!

Ok, so check this thread out below. Same part. It won’t help as there is no definitive answer in the thread but we now have two instances of people installing a Lazy Wolf Trigger and this part suddenly appearing, so there is an answer. Interesting, and I don’t know what the hell it is, it does not appear to be on the VP9 schematic. @EXCATM, did you ever figure out what it was? Can you help him out?

I'm glad I am not the ONLY one to run into this lol. If you remove your slide and you shine a light down into your locking block and look for where the trigger safety is moving all the way in the back, there is a cut out that MIGHT fit this piece (at least on my gun because the piece is missing). I'll attempt to get a photo of it when I get home.

But during the removal of the trigger stop bolt my screw driver must have slipped off and hit the piece breaking it free. Only thing I can think of.

I'm sitting here attempting to photograph the spot which I THINK this part goes, and it's becoming evident that its virtually impossible to get a photograph of it due to its location.

Maybe tomorrow will result in another strip for the "fun of it" to check out the notch I'm referring to...

Took it apart this morning and placed the piece in its little notch. Safety is functioning as normal and everything seems good. Hopefully will get it out to the range and see if this piece holds up. Not sure if I should have glued it or not. Thank you for your help!

Thanks for sending me a PM about this thread.

I had the same part fall out of my VP9 when I installed the LW trigger. Thanks for posting what it was, I never did figure it out.

I’m curious, did your trigger safety malywith the peace removed? Mine seems to function properly without it.

So I took my VP9 apart and installed the part back in the notch in the frame, on reassembly it seems to make the trigger safety block trigger movement sooner then without the part. With the part removed the trigger safety still works on my pistol.

Unfortunately the part will not stay in the frame, after a few dry-fires/ attempts to check if the trigger safety works, the part falls out. I am considering epoxyingnit in place, though I want to be 100% sure it is oriented properly first. Currently when it is installed I can move it around some.

Hm.. mine seems to stay in place pretty well. Just did a few dry fires and purposely missed the safety a couple of times to see if it'll dislodge. To be on the safe side I might put a dab of super glue on the bottom of it. Rather than have it pop out at the range and never finding it again.

Durring the lazy wolf trigger install, for me it was particularly trying to get the trigger stop bolt out, my screw driver slipped and dislodged a small metal rectangle pictured in my first post. I later found out that it sits right behind the trigger and is what the safety engages on when you pull the trigger without depressing the safety.

During normal use, you shouldn't have a problem with your gun and this part. We, unfortunately, just encountered the same issue.

yes I see what you are saying but basically something sheared the part off during the install, and now you "may" encounter problems. perhaps one
of the armorers here will know but this would trouble me unless it's just a range gun.

Looking at the part off of my gun one of the holes appears to be filled with either polymer or debris. It may have been molded into the gun. I have tried to reinstall the part several times, but with repeated attempts to pull the trigger without touching the safety lever it works it’s way loose. I will likely epoxy it into the frame. Fortunately for me, the safety appears to still function. However with the part installed there is almost no movement of the trigger when the safety lever is not depressed, with the part removed the trigger goes almost to the rear but will not break.

Anyone with an unmodified VP9, if you attempt to pull the trigger without pressing the trigger safety how far will the trigger travel? I’d like to make sure that the safety is functioning correctly with the part installed.

So this is what I was wondering as I red this thread........ I continued to read the thread, and now wish I had the 2 or 3 minutes of my life back.....

That piece is not on the schematic because it’s not supposed to come out/loose. It is affixed into the frame and acts as a rigid trigger safety blade stop as indicated.

I would contact HK as Peter suggested and see what they recommend.

At the very least it will need to be bonded back in by some means.

EDDIEGELR,

You will more than likely need a new frame. A lot of people are continuing to make this mistake when trying to take out the trigger stop bolt. They are using a punch or a flat nose screwdriver and are going too deep in the frame trying to pry out the TSB. Please call the number below to get a RMA to send the pistol in for repair.

Thank you

Leave an HK an HK.......Absolutely no aftermarket needed on this German Death Laser. People start messing with (sears, springs, etc) and have no idea what will transpire long term. I have one VP9 just passed the 60,122 mark and never a malfunction. HK doesn't BETA test there firearms on consumers like other companies in the industry. This pistol was in R&D for nearly 5 years. HK knows best.

My reasoning was more so hoping the LWG trigger would sit slightly further back than the stock trigger. The gun shot amazing out of the box. But unfortunately my hands are pretty small and when doing speed/draw drills, often times I couldnt get it comfortably on the trigger and engage the safety completely. That's even with the smallest grip panels installed.. I havent messed with it since I put the lwg trigger on, but I don't think it sits any further back. Maybe the slightest bit.

Does anyone know about the Lobos trigger? 👍 or 👎? They are local to me. It says it has a "shorter travel" but I dont know if that translates to it sitting further back at all.
