I know the USP tactical has 20 round mags. Has anyone done any sanding, dremel or other type of work to make them fit in a Mark 23?

USPt doesn't have 20 round mags that I know of. There are Jet Funnel mags and then the 30 round 9mm mags that can hold 20 something rounds of .40. There are no official extended mags for .45.

If you have money to waste (subjective term of waste) and want a RELIABLE 17-20 round Mark 23 mag, make your own. Take two 12 round mags, cut the top off one, and grind the floor plate ears off the other. Have them TIG welded together and use an STI 170 mm Universal spring. Presto, a 17-20 round mag that is as reliable as a normal Mark 23 mag. I did this very procedure with two 10 round mags after the ban ended and came up with a 17 round mag so if you use 12 round mags you should get at least 19 rounds. It sticks out stupidly far, will cost you well over $100 total, and is for those with more money than since, but it works. I did a bunch of these in USPC .40, .45, USP 45, and Mark 23 and all have worked 100%, but IMO are about as useless as tits on a boar hog. But if you MUST have one, it is an option. Pics are of USP mags but the same thing applies with Mark 23 mags.

Do the Mark 23 mags not have an option of a flat, non extended baseplate? I guess the extension might be nice for a two handed tomahawk throw when you finally run out of ammo. I love the idea of the welded mag bodies and will have to give this a dance....
