I've been looking at adding one of the case deflectors that welds to the receiver of a G3. I want to reduce the damage to brass casings and try to prevent them being hurtled 25 feet away. Does anyone have any experience with these? How well to they reduce brass damage and distance throw?

HD tape? I've never used the plastic clip on type but a buddy of mine had one on his Sar8 and it caused cases to get stuck as the bolt returned. I'm running a clone with about a 14" barrel with a pinned flash hider and a #18 locking piece.
Guillie does this--- but I would merely use a brass deflector (I believe that RTG has the plastic ones with little or no marring), or if you want no marks, then HD tape!!! :biggrin:

I doubt the welded-on type would help much with the denting of the case since it is steel. The intent of the welded-on was to prevent the ejected case from being a missile and hitting anyone to your right. The best option would probably be the clip-on type with the rubber bumper to prevent case damage. I can say the clip-on type does reduce case damage.
