Conversion of p30S to P30 and removal of the safety lever

When I bought my P30S and right off the bat I disliked the safety lever. The more I shot the gun the more I hated the safety lever. So, I started reading threads in this forum about removing the safety lever, but most of the threads I read suggested that the P30S hammer axle/safety lever is not swappable with the P30 hammer axle. In fact, I found only one guy who said P30S can be converted to P30; I asked him if he actually did it but got no reply.

Then, I decided to try it myself to see if it works or not. I ordered these items:

Option #1

1- P30 V1 AND V3 HAMMER AXLE #209272

2- P30 V3 CONTROL LATCH #234487

Steps:
1- swap the P30S V3 HAMMER AXLE / SAFETY LEVER #227813 with the P30 V1 AND V3 HAMMER AXLE #209272
2- swap the P30S V3 control latch #227812 with the P30 V3 CONTROL LATCH #234487

or (if you want a shorter trigger reset)

Option #2

1- P30 V1 AND V3 HAMMER AXLE #209272

2- GRAYGUNS Short Reset System for DA/SA and LEM Triggers (models without safety) #SYS-HK-P30-STD

Steps:
1- swap the Firing Pin Block Spring with the GRAYGUNS light one.
2- swap the short pin in the sear/decocker lever with the GRAYGUNS longer one
3- swap the P30S V3 HAMMER AXLE / SAFETY LEVER #227813 with the P30 V1 AND V3 HAMMER AXLE #209272
4- swap the P30S V3 control latch #227812 with the GRAYGUNS one

I did the conversion and here’s the result:

I shot 100 Winchester 115g rounds with zero malfunctions, and I plan to shoot more to test this configuration.

For important details on stripping the gun, you can refer to TooSixy great post:
How to detail strip a P30/P30S/P30L/P30LS

Side Note: Initially, I ground the left side safety lever myself to reduce its size and here’s the result:

but I didn't like my craftsmanship, and I am sure some of you can do better.

I hope that was useful for you

You are absolutely right, I will enjoy the new configuration without the safety lever for a while before I try the LEM V2 with a decocker configuration. You do already have the better gun (P30), I would advise you to keep it.

I still believe the P30 (V3) DA/SA to be the best configuration of all the variants, and eventually I will sell my P30S and buy a new P30.

Can anyone confirm if this process would also work on a P30SK V3 safety to convert to non-safety?
If you look at the original post from walyamw, you can clearly see the decocker sticking out on the side, indicating that he did this with a V3. Additionally, having taken my P30SKS v3 apart to convert it to a LEM v0, the premise of swapping the hammer axle and control latch out would make sense to remove the safety.

However, also judging from the pictures, you will be left with a little indentation for the L safety lever. I wonder if there is a way to 3D print a small polymer plug to fill it. The original non-safety versions look like they are merely plugged. I can't imagine it would be too hard to glue such plug in, as the whole frame is mere polymer/fancy plastic.

Warning: Removing safety features from a CCW gun MAY bring up unwanted questions in a defensive shooting situation.

Interesting thread.
[you can buy a non-safety gun as your CCW] is my profound recommendation.
While I haven’t looked into this in close detail, sure I can assume you can switch/$pend/work the parts out as the S lever is an additional mechanical feature – but it will remain a non-sanctioned mod.
I have both P30/P30S (safety off, hot chamber, hammer DA) and there is a reason for either, flipping the S off (in any gun) is a training issue – and is not an option in a 1911.
As for plugging the S frame countersink, I would think there is a separate S frame mold/jig (and eliminate the S-Plug process/variable altogether).

1911 is a SA only pistol that's way it's a must to have a safety lever if you carry it with a hot camber (cocked & locked), like you said it's not an option.

I totally agree with you; carrying the gun with safety off, hot chamber, and hammer DA is the best option you have if you ever face a real threat. And even if you train well on flipping the safety off, you don't want to waste that time if a gun is pointed at you, you just want to draw the gun, point and shoot. These are 3 steps that you need to do fast while the attacker has only one step pulling the trigger.
