G36 Bayonet Lug Differences - German and NATO/Export

I want to document the differences between the German and NATO/export G36 bayonet lugs. I haven’t found a German bayonet lug (either original or repro) in the wild. I never even knew of the differences until I tried a G36 bayonet and a NATO KCB bayonet.

Take a look at the picture below. On the left is my US trials KCB bayonet. On the right is my SG2000 G36 Bayonet. Eickhorn made both. The German bayonet mount looks to be longer than the NATO. The bayonet lugs on my e-length barrels engage with the mount. However, the bayonet wobbles back and forth significantly. The NATO KCB fits fine. Oddly enough, the NATO lug on my G36 does not look like a usual NATO lug. However, it fits nice and tightly.

Has anyone seen the German lugs outside of Germany? How about on the German civilian market?

I think the german lugs are basically AK lugs since after the reunification they had a lot of AKM bayonets and wanted to use them.
Not to mention that Germany hasn't even used bayonets since 1945 yet still always wanted them.
But I have also never seen any that are not NATO and I'm pretty sure the Germany army retrofitted their rifles with NATO lugs
I figured as well. Oddly enough, the NATO lugs on other rifles (Stgw90, M16 etc...) are a bit longer than the NATO lug G36. I am not sure if the functionality would differ on a German-lug bayonet.

There really is no info out there on the them. They are just noticeably thicker when looking at photos of the original 90's era G36. Even the newer photos of German G36s have the NATO lugs, just as you said.

My current gen bayonet on my E length parts kit build is wobbly but worse, I need a set of pliers to remove it. The tabs do not recess far enough back into the blade handle to slip past the retaining block. Real pain.
Is yours a genuine E-length barrel? I assumed even those had the export bayonet lugs, too. Mind posting some pics of it? I am beginning to think that HK may have made different versions of the NATO lugs.

I recently bought a Spanish AITOR produced G36 (export type) bayonet that looks like the KCB77 for the nato lug. Strangely it won't lock up on a SIG550 with the nato lug but works perfectly on an M4. It also does not lock onto a 20" VHS-D2 (Springfield Hellion) bayonet lug which looks just like a G36 export lug. I wonder if the Spanish G36 follows the German export type?
The SIG rifles have wonky NATO lugs. I'm not sure why. Chances are your AITOR bayonet has a standard NATO lug.

I may have found a lead on a German lug. Pics to follow once it comes my way.
