Per the excellent advise of @Sextus, I am posting this here to attract more attention to the GG&G Group Buy!!!
We are currently at 57 of the 100 needed for GG&G to manufacture a metal, Mark 23 rail adapter for lights/lasers.
There is no obligation to purchase--- any purchases will be based on the design and cost of the units, and if they are to our liking.
I presume that, once 100 is reached, GG&G will want feedback from us as to the design, which will probably dictate cost.

@AGG

I modified an image of the discontinued (and never released) SureFire Mark 23 Adapter in Photoshop for what I believe would be the best design, both aesthetically and functionally.

It copies SureFire's streamlined rail inserts and mounting screw for interfacing with the front of the trigger guard/frame. This avoids the clunky and over weight design of previous adapters, and also allows accessories to be mounted close to the rear, bringing them more in line with the center of gravity.

Unlike the original SureFire however, this mount would include four picatinny slots instead of just one, and extend right up to the end of the frame, just like GG&G's USP adapters. This would give the end user maximum flexibility in installing lights, lasers, DBALs, or whatever. I am not sure if this would need to be made of 6065, 7075 or perhaps steel, and will leave that to people more knowledgeable than I on the subject.

PLEASE consider passing this design along to GG&G when the time comes to offer design input.

For those concerned that the adaptor needs a tool for removal, let's remember that the adaptor needs not be removed to dismount the light. The adaptor can stay in place. Personally, I prefer the sleeker look of one slot on the adaptor. it seems to more closely mimic the sleek look of the original Mark 23 rail. Not a big fan of the cheese grater look.

I agree. The original LAM had a thumbwheel 'incorporated' into the design. Likely at the time the "clamshell halves" (for lack of a better term) were assembled around the battery and laser. For me, I don't like the idea of the ONE 'point of contact' in the REAR of the adapter. With a device attached, I think this serves to allow "flop" on recoil (for not allowing the Full Length of the pistol rail to provide contact with the adapter) or worse "spread/stress" or "lift-away" upon holstering or 'snagging'.

I still maintain also, that unless you have a light with a Q.D. , then you have TWO actions to dismount the adapter instead of just one. I know, purists will hate anything 'inside' the trigger guard, but it was designed to be gi-NORMOUS for Arctic Mittens or Scuba Gloves. There is still miles of room for a finger.

My $.03 on design input.

This is where I'm at with the design.

I'm only advocating for additional picatinny slots so that the end user can have a SF light, DBAL, or whatever they want attached.
I'd say don't put any more than necessary to mount a DBAL or SF X300, X400, and the V series lights.

I'm good with that except for one little detail:
I'd prefer the rails on either side to be like the SureFire instead of a clunky looking box. That would be more consistent with GG&G's USP & USPc adapters.

This is HONESTLY my last post on the subject.

Gator, G,G&G make some GREAT PRODUCTS, I own several 'hop-ups' for my Benelli M4, BUT the current USP adapter is a non-starter for me. It is THREE (3) pieces that are "assembled". The underlug w/slots and the 2 rails are bolted on. Not only is it NOT supported except in the rear, which again I believe would have spreading on the long axis, but the bolts would make it weak/failure point/possibly loosen on the lateral.

AGG, The Rhynotek you reference DOES have a thumbwheel, but by its nature....is entirely Too Small. The o.d. of the knurled wheel is the same or smaller than the width of the trigger guard of the 23. I believe it was designed like that so that devices with "wings" or ambi-toggle switches would mount OVER it. Okay, so that equates to No Tools, but is NOT REMOVABLE with device attached. The LAM wheel was integrated and fingers could just pick it up by pincering from underneath.

I LIKE the slim profile of the S.F., but would like to see a Full-Length connection from the rail piece to the end of the 3 or 4 slot adapter.

My idea is something of a hybrid between Gator's image, the rhynotek one, and thrlsekr's printed one. Slim profile like the surefire, but full 'body' and rail inserts like the rhynotek (no 'forks' for the rail inserts, fully connected), and nicely curved like thrlsekr's, not all sharply square. Of course we can't forget one of the main failings of previous adapters of the rail being too shallow for some lights/accessories.

Is anyone actually in contact with GGG, or are we just talking amongst ourselves here anyway?

I could go for the "full body" design, my only thing is that I don't want it to get too heavy or clunky.

If they can make something that works and is sleek, I've got no issues with some of the finer details.

And I do believe we are just talking amongst ourselves. I think @AGG is organizing the buy with GG&G.

So it looks like the G,G&G adapter has been released and is out on the market. Congrats to them and I welcome the advent of a durable, metal adapter to those in our beloved MARK 23 community. I have no complaints, comments, or criticisms and will purchase it myself. (pledged 3 for a GROUP BUY, but with nobody out $$$...i'll try one)

When @Sextus first proposed this endeavor I pledged NOT to 'bump' my own thread and have not done so since 04/04/2017. I'm only posting here and now to remind anyone who is looking for a lower cost OR removable alternative that they remain available. Thanks for looking, CARRY, CARRY, CARRY in our ever-changing world, and most of all STAY SAFE !!!

P.S. - a HUGE "shout-out" to Sextus for forcing the issue and Agg's clout for 'carrying the mantle' and showing G,G&G the level of interest to get this into Production.
