With the VP9s already available with this feature, what are the chances the USPs would follow suit?

There is a 100% chance that you will never see an OR USP from HK. There’s also a 0% chance HK will ever make an OR USP. I’m not sure if you are a cup half full or half empty kinda guy so I gave you both answers.

FWIW, I opted to have the slide milled on my VP9 (locally), mounted the optic directly to the slide and haven't looked back, as it were. I know it's not a USP but personally I consider whatever I'm carrying should be a functional, practical tool first.

I can see the front sight (Truglo) through the window (Holosun) but not able to index F-to-R sights. I was having a slower time aligning them anyway due to aged eyeballs, so that issue made little difference to me.

Also got a Dara IWB holster pre-cut for optics but had to send it back for re-cut because the optic sits on the slide, not a plate and the pistol wouldn't fully fit into the holster without pushing the slide it of battery .25". Dara sent me a shipping lable and I had it back in less than a week.

Also, shooting a pistol with an optic was a whole different way of sighting. Had to break the years old habit of one-eye-closed and also learn to perfect my grip before bringing the sight up to my dominate eye not the middle of my face. Sort of different because I'm left-eyed and right-handed.

I guess what I'm getting at is it's a steeper learning curve than I expected.

Sorry, got off track here. What were we talking about?

I would love to see a USP ver 2020 with optics ready mount and a picatinny rail and bigger paddle mag release. But with a wish list like that I think it would be more economical for HK to ping off the HK45 and P30 line. In my view, the company never did follow the HK45 with an HK40 or HK9; the P30s are close but no cigar because the frames use the rear decocker and are not set up for universal swapping between LEM and safey-selector variants. So 2021 might be a good year to release an HK40 as a USP successor with an OR slide. Man, if wishes were rollpins...

Edit: I've been running a Meprolight FT Bullseye on another pistol and it works just fine at ten yards. A reasonable alternative to a red dot. Alas, it too is not offered in a USP mount. I wonder though if with the right model the foot of the mount can be milled itself to fit.

I doubt it, they never bothered to give the USP an updated rail on the frame so a factory optics cut slide is out of the question. The good news is the slides have plenty of material to cut for an rmr and a cut specific to your optic is better than a universal plate system in terms of security and permanence. I'm getting mine done this/next week and will post pictures once It's finished.

HK is a commercial company. If there is enough demand, they might do it. It’s not that expensive, i mean, it just extra cut outs.
They wanted to discontinue USP since 2000, and yet the demand kept the whole line alive.
I expect to see P30 to get optic plate first, tbh. That was supposed to be USP replacer.

I’d definitely be interested in optics ready USP.
