So I have my new used HK P2000, and I noticed something strange while dry firing it today.
Unlike my GLOCKs, my HK's firing pin is not visible (just an empty hole) or missing. I know it's a dumb question, but is the firing pin actually there? I've heard internet rumors that HK firing pins can break if snap caps are not used when drying. Obviously, being a used gun of unknown round count, I don't know what the gun has been through. I did notice when I got it that it was greased (so lord knows what else the previous owner(s) have done with it).
All of my snap caps are well used and have an indentation already from strikes from other guns, so I couldn't tell by using my snap caps if it's been getting hit with the firing pin. I did put some sharpie in one of the indentations and the sharpie did get worn away.
So the question is, to P2000 owners, when you lock the slide back, can you see the firing pin sticking out of the hole?
Oh, yes, and I know shooting it would solve the question, but I don't have the time to go to the range any time soon.
