Would you be willing to spend real HK prices to upgrade HK's 22LR guns with real German HK parts?

Front sight is a die cast part; i.e. metal. Probably ZAMAK. Will do a magnet test and see what it reads. Not sure about the trigger though. Since metal is a better conductor of heat, your lips are probably accurate. I will double check my trigger and see.

I've accumulated the remainder of the front end parts from the former GSG offering that I think will enable me to get rid of the horrible faux "SD" appearance.
Finally had enough down time to pull apart both the GSG and HK front ends. This approach won't work without extensive machining for the following reasons:

1. The receivers are quite differently configured, including the barrel mounting
2. The body shells and cocking tubes are differently configured at their mating point
3. The GSG barrel has a much larger OD.

I considered machining the HK receiver to accept the GSG barrel but don't think it's worth the effort of removing the GSG barrel and machining the HK receiver - the GSG barrel appears to be pressed into its mount. I have comparison photos if anyone's interested. Holding onto the parts in case I find a GSG body shell to do a build.

OK, the advantage of a 22lr is that it is an inexpensive way to shoot: unless you have lots of money to spend.

That said, I would like to think that this isn't something that will end up in the dump sometime in the future because there aren't parts to repair them. And, so far, I've only heard bad things about the trigger pack/housing and would like to replace that with something heftier.

The magazines would be another tweak.

What surprises me is that there isn't a company out there willing to make these parts if the 22 clones are vaguely similar to each other.

I just wish they sold the A3 stock from the rifle “SD” version separately. I really want to pick up the pistol version and SBR it since I have a 22 suppressor. The fake SD rifle has no appeal to me because it can’t be run suppressed. The problem is there are no stocks for the pistol version. Aesthetics being what they are, I have no interest in a pic rail on the back with a pic rail stock. If it can’t look like a proper MP5 I’ll just keep using my M&P 15-22.

I have a different viewpoint and actually am totally aligned with @rand000 on this. First thing I did after buying my 416 .22 was put one of those Geissele tan rails on it. The rail was more expensive than the gun. Why? 'cause it looked cool and I wanted to mount a bipod on this for teaching my kid to shoot. I've replaced the A2 flash hider with one of these adapters HK416 barrel adapter to easily connect my suppressor. As @rand000 said, the gun is a huge pile of junk. The rail fit with about an hour worth of hammering which was facilitated by a special wood jig I had to fabricate. The barrel is totally unsupported. When you separate the lower from the upper, the entire upper housing, bolt and barrel fall right out. Everything is zink... or plastic. You can see I've upgraded the buttstock too, and would have upgraded the buffer tube (so the stock actually fit well) but that's not an option. Yea, given the opportunity, I would invest in upgrade options if HK offered them much as they do in the airsoft community and if anyone recalls the Beretta CX4 Storm, there was a whole market for "aftermarket" upgrades to it. I mean we all did it with 1911s back in the day by replacing everything on them with parts from Wilson Combat or EGW... What rand000 is suggesting is not any different, he's just saying HK should be the company offering the upgrades or partnering with Umarex, Walther, etc. to license a line of upgraded parts.

Reminds me of the time I took a 416 22lr and turned it into a ‘SEAL clone’ for my (then) teenage shooter.

I think the optic and light cost as much as the gun haha
