How? Says nothing about a pistol configuration. So how are they doing this as an SBR and in 922r?

 

I’m not seeing mention of 922r compliance, am I blind?

And I’m sure they are not shipping with butt stock. They state, “length adjustable 6 position receiver extension for installation of brace or stock (ALL NFA rules apply).”

While I feel everyone’s pain about them, I’m not seeing anything saying they are selling in rifle configuration and that it is a rifle in 922r compliance.

But definitely more AU voodoo hocus pocus showing them as rifles. Jedi mind tricks if you will.

And - like @Sirrisdesign already mentioned and also according to my current understanding of US import law and knowing how these guns are produced by HK - this is either a misrepresentation or illegal, or both:

Entirely made of German parts unlike the US made and assembled MR556, the MR223A3 is the real deal!

So buyer beware.

And no, "AU surely knows what they are doing" isn't an argument. They've proven before that they don't.

That also has "Reviews" of a product that isn't even shipping for another month.
Our friend outdoorman is sure busy hailing AU after his permanent respite from here.

The only way they could do this would be to have US made lowers - cannot import SBRs due to 1968 GCA. I remember at one time AU had a bunch of RAL uppers in stock that then disappeared, so I suspect they went away to possibly build these.

Also remember when there were a bunch of RAL lower parts kits ordered and then some of us got shipped black ones instead after getting a call from AU customer service?

Could they have imported rifles and then SBR'd them as a manufacturer and put them with the 11" & 14.5" uppers?

I thought the MR223 receiver couldn't be imported but I am not in the know. I know AU has definitely "manufactured" colt SBR models.

$5,495. I’d consider buying one at that price, but now it’s like they’re asking $5k just for the lower.

 

Those have been on there, for a bit of time. I suppose the 16" version maaaayyy be possible.

 

Man I’d be willing to look the other way if they had some complete MR308s in RAL. Wouldn’t want someone to come on down the line knocking on my door asking about illegally imported firearms like what happened with Vickers though.

How many of the originally imported 11" and 14" 'pistols' were confiscated by the ATF? I'm not aware of any.

It's still a damocles sword hanging over every owner because the importer cheated/misrepresented.

 

Those MR223's were imported, acquired and disposed of as pistols.

Unfortunately they weren't made as pistols and HK confirmed this when asked by the ATF.

That's the misrepresentation part on side of the importer.

Honestly it really depends… if the ATF OK’d this recent import, it’s good until they change their mind and stop allowing them like last time. The only time ATF is going to collect or confiscate guns is if they determine them to be “machine-guns” through whatever logical leaps they prefer.

This wouldn’t be the first time the ATF has used inconsistent reasoning or granted loopholes. Back when they did the “pistol brace amnesty” they allowed people to not only skip the $200 tax, but exempted marking and 922r requirements. In addition there are a number of other grey market pistol imports from Europe that were originally rifles.

We won’t know the truth behind this recent MR223 import unless someone does something like a FOIA request on the form 6.

I get that AU isn't popular here and they actually had less than stellar service on two of the occasions I've dealt with them.

I'm just saying, until we see the actual F6's and all related communications, we don't know how they got in, or what the deal is. Do we even know who the actual importer is?
