A bit confused here...

1. Buy SP5K.
2. Buy Stock.
3. Send in forms for SBR tax stamp. Wait. Approval.
4. Meet 922R compliance?
5. Install stock.
6. Engrave a # on firearm

For 922R compliance... What parts do you recommend replacing?

I read somewhere it's 10 parts total? Looks like the SP5K has 13 parts total with magazine included. So 4 parts must be changed?

1. Stock
2. Paddle Mag Release (really an ad on?)
3. Handguard
4. Night Sights
5. ??????

hmm.

i just filed a form 1 and put a stock on mine. i didn't charge any parts. it was sold in the US so it should be US compliant already. I've never seen the 922R police come around a take apart someone firearm to check the parts in it. screw that crap!

i should add that with the aftermarket parts like paddle mag release and new forearm and such i do meet the 922R compliance.

I have a trust. Need to Form 1 mine, but last time I checked we couldn't e-file it. Any word on whether this is back online again?

Send in paperwork and wait 11 months, have paddle release added.have remarked properly, have sbr info added.install full auto bolt carrier
Install proper front hand guard.install proper stock.complete refinish.order a bunch of german mags.need proper carry bag.a bunch of spare parts
A lot of ammo. About $6000.00 later and you got a good start

1: Buy SP5k
2: Engrave with trust or personal info(name and city/state). I'd personally do this first encase the engraver screws up the gun.
3: Fill out form 1 and submit along with a check and the reasonable person's form.
4: Sit on your ass for a few months
5: When the approved form 1 comes back buy the stock and whatever else you want. For 922r you need 6 us parts. I personally am using the front hand guard(will swap for one with the vertical grip when the form 1 comes back), charging handle, mag base plate, and I replaced 3 parts in the lower(hammer, sear, trigger). This gives me more freedom to choose what stock I want.
6: Assemble and enjoy the gun.

Optional: Install a paddle mag release, the mp5 rear sight drum, and have the barrel swapped for a 3lug. HKparts sells a drop in kit for the paddle mag release that is pretty much the same idea that tsc and other hk smiths were doing(I know TSC came up with the idea themselves, not sure if others copied him or came up with it themselves too as it is pretty easy). For barrels you have US made, finding a real mp5k barrel(stupid money), the B&T barrels, or buying a longer mp5/hk94 barrel and having it made into a mp5k barrel. You also might be able to source a pof or mke barrel. I personally went with the b&t barrel.

FYI the list of parts that can count for 922r according to hkparts
Receiver
Barrel
Trunion
Bolt
Bolt Carrier
Cocking Handle
Trigger Housing
Trigger
Hammer
Sear
Buttstock
Pistol Grip
Forearm / Handguard
Magazine Housing
Magazine Follower
Magazine Floorplate

eFile likely is not coming back anytime soon. Just file your paper Form 1. Hopefully they add the Form 1 to the new ATF barcoding system soon, that would help a little.

P.S. I would not post publicly the fact you purchased the stock at the same time as the firearm and before your approved Form 1. While 922r enforcement is a complete joke (read never one conviction on that alone), possession of parts for a SBR with constructional intent has been seen a couple times. Typically when people do something really stupid like post a pistol for sale and also include the rifle stock with it. That usually get the attention of law enforcement.

100% Agree with this statement, I left the SBR parts with my dealer, filed the Forms and when they come back will go collect them and attach. Far better to be safe than sorry!

Agreed with a German PDW N barrel you could get to $6k easily............but with what he/she listed not happening..........

Alternatively, you could add a Hera Arms side folding unit, Atlantic firearms AR stock adapter, Spikes pistol buffer tube, and a Tailhook 1 brace for around $300 total. That gives you the same function of a Choate style folding stock and doesn't look too bad either. I used to have pics of mine up on here until photo bucket changed.

With all due respect @TacticalMedic , you are offering incorrect direction. Although 922(r) is rarely, if ever, enforced as a primary offense, where you bought something in terms of compliance with 922(r) is irrelevant.

18 U.S.C. § 922(r
)

It shall be unlawful for any person to assemble from imported parts any semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun which is identical to any rifle or shotgun prohibited from importation under section 925(d)(3) of this chapter as not being particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes except that this subsection shall not apply to -
(1) the assembly of any such rifle or shotgun for sale or distribution by a licensed manufacturer to the United States or any department or agency thereof or to any State or any department, agency, or political subdivision thereof; or

(2) the assembly of any such rifle or shotgun for the purposes of testing or experimentation authorized by the Attorney General.

If you turn an SP5K into an SBR, you are assembling a weapon (making) that is otherwise prohibited from import and are required to insure that the weapon does not have more than 10 imported parts. Whether you do so or not is up to you. But where you bought the base gun has nothing to do with it.

922(r) applies to pistols not rifles so you can't assume the pistol you bought complies. Also someone mentioned using the US made vertical grip forearm, I remember reading on here that it has some wobble. If I remember correctly it was determined that the hole was too big.

Edit: I typed this wrong. Veritas is correct, Applies to Rifles, not pistols.

This is not correct. 922r applies to rifles and not pistols. It applies to a pistol only when made into a rifle (SBR).

922(r) applies to rifles. Imported pistols are not subject to 922(r). However, if you make a RIFLE of ANY kind, even from a pistol, then 922(r) does apply.
