Why did Walther quit making the 416 rifle in .22, but they still make the 416 .22 pistol? Anybody still selling the rifle new, nothing on Gunbroker ? Thanks

With the atf now saying it’s legal to shoulder a sig brace, for me the pistol is much more attractive. Pistol caliber carbines are really catching on now. Much easier to shoot accurately than non-braced pistols, so small you can throw in truck/trunk, nimble to maneuver due to short barrel, high capacity. Waiting for the paperwork to clear so I can put a suppressor on mine.

Interesting that the rifles are priced so high. I wonder if it is because they are discontinued? It's certainly not due to the box. Pistol is $350 on sale/$400 regular price and comes in a plastic box. SP5k box (last pic) included for comparison.

They did discontinue this model late last year. Replaced by the Walther G36 .22lr which seems to be a slow seller so don't expect it to stick around much longer. They just aren't priced well.

Think Walther has drop the Tactical Rimfire lines completely. So what's left floating on the market is what's left.

So no more:
Walther HK MP5
Walther HK MP5SD
Walther HK 416D
Walther HK 416 pistol
Walther HK G36K
Walther Colt 1911 (multiple variants).
Walther Colt M16
Walther Colt M16 SPR
Walther Colt M4
Walther Colt M4 Tactical
Walther IWI UZI carbine
Walther IWI UZI pistol
Walther Beretta ARX160
Walther Beretta ARX160 pistol

Which is sad since Walther's parent company Umarex owns the right to make repro HKs, including the MP7. And this Walther tactical rimfire series had lots of Airsoft based design/furniture, which happens to fit Umarex's other business of Airsoft products. At one point, was hoping for the MP7 22LR to be announced after the G36 22RL was announced.

Have the rifle length and just got a pistol version. Did some dressing up of the pistol. Used the airsoft regular length handguard. Took off fake suppressor, added thread converter, put on a 1/2x28 barrel extension that is 4 inches long then used an A1 birdcage comp., got an airsoft 416 mock gas block and JB welded on to barrel for the look. Used the pistol brace adapter and put on the SB Tactical SB3. Painting it now. Then add peq and optics (airsoft for the look). Will post pics when completed.

Cool! Sb3 is an awesome brace. Regarding compensator, I bought one of the .22 suppressors that Brownells has on sale right now for $109. Can’t remember the name but at that low price point I couldn’t resist. Claimed dB levels are the same as the other expensive suppressors (fwiw). We’ll see when it clears paperwork how big of a sound reduction it really is.
