Sorry, PM2 is correct.

Case in point with what is happening with 'regular' scopes: "I can't get far enough back with my Vortex." Sure you can find enough pieces to rack the scope forward, but then dealing with the charging handle becomes a problem.

What 'most' want isn't a G3. It is unique in the rifle world, built around a system of accessories that came about before most G3 users were even born.

The baby 4X STANAG setup is fine, as it conforms to where the eye winds up when shooting. The current production shorty S&B scopes are high money.

A very good scope for a G3 was that used on the G3SG1 in the 30mm ringmount. Also known as the S&B "Sniper" 1.5-6X42, pictured below.

The PSG-1 used a similar variable scope, with threaded bosses affixed to the STANAG distance but the rifle had permanent mounts welded on.

That MSG90 does look like it pushes the scope at least an inch forward.

Lol and Trijicon ACOG 4x for the win with a 1.5" eye relief.

I think what I may do is get the Nightforce 1-8x (30mm tube) and pretend mount it where the HK claw mount would have it and see if it will work. If not, I'll get a picatinny section and go from there.

The eye relief on modern scopes may not be ideal, but this guy seems to be doing ok with his scope mounted WAYY back with a 4.4"-3.6" eye relief scope.

Maybe try a spare scope or a buddy's scope before you purchase something new. What killed it for me was the weight. You go from a relatively handy rifle to a boat anchor. I am the biggest fan of A3s but never for this purpose. ;)

Was not the ACOG mainly for use with 5.56 ammo? Much less recoil? I trial fit one up and did not like the short eye relief. For another idea on a 1/6 power setup, versus a LPVO I passed on 30 years ago when shown a Kahles back then, I waited to see what new tech in the future might offer and I like and purchased the vortex holo sight with its both eyes open rectangular window and a 1 MOA adjustable brightness NV capable laser generated dot. Much improved situational awareness. Then flip their 6x magnifier inline if needed. both vortex pieces and a Spuhr top rail and their adjustable stock are around $1600 together. Big difference not having to put your face into the back of the scope to my liking unless needed

now I can add any other kind of optics I want/need. Finally. 32 years later.

or QD mount the Fero z-24 on irs ARMS #63 mount as pictured. Much stronger than the hk claw mount IMO. hk advised me to shim their German sourced mount tighter and offered to set my 911 up if I wanted to ship it to Virginia

The QD ARMS #63 s probably because of its dual locking levers it seems to hold zero very well as do the other scopes on their ARMS mounts when swapping and remounting

versus $1300 for a nice fero z-24 or over $2k for the nice S&B?

the vortex holo and 6x magnifier is very clear and bright to my eyes and is very similar to my Fero z-24’s image quality which is excellent.

Wow ! when I first saw those pics I was like WTF with that green ,but you know what …it’s starting to grow on me I’m kind of digging it…😉👍🏻
