I think that is normal and most likely looked like that from HK. If you want to see a rough breech face look at a Glock.

Ya, the only reason I'm concerned is none of my other handguns have a breech face that looks this bad (not even my Glocks).

 

IMO it looks like there's a small amount of erosion. But I'm not an expert.

 

Not as good as I like to see the breech face, but normal. Cutting tool could have been to the point of needing replacing.

Ya, My USP has a perfect breech face. Haven't seen one like my P30 which is why I was concerned. If it's normal and nothing to be worried about, that lessens my concerns.

 

It's normal. There's no reason to have a polished surface on that particular area of the handgun. It comes in contact with the back end of a cartridge during the firing cycle and the only thing you need to worry about is that the surface is perpendicular to the direction of fire.

 

I wouldn't be concerned. There's nothing to be had from the seller since you can't prove anything other than what's advertised. If you need peace of mind, ship it to H&K and see what they say.

The auction had a 14 day return period actually, so I could return it if I wanted. I'm not gonna bother though. Don't feel like paying for return shipping. I also go the firearm at a really good price, so the breech face isn't of terrible concern to me so long as it's not something that will continue to deteriorate with time.

 

I'm sure it came out of the factory that way. If it bothers you, contact HK and see what they have to say.

HK is a premium firearm, you have the right to expect high quality in fit and finish.
