I just ran across this browsing and hadn’t seen one yet.
Quick surface scan says these were made for Cabela’s/Bass pro shops.
I just verified some in stock, I’m gonna go put my hands on one. Looks like the safety lever is a little bit different in the photos than the standard black.

Alright BPS Limited Edition owners, I need some help. I received my new RAL7008 grip in the mail today. As I went to install it I realized that the grip screw that's installed on the gun is different from my other HK builds.

Does anyone know what size or better yet what wrench / bit is needed to remove the original grip screw? Other HK guns I own have been flat heads or the occasional Phillips on other AR builds. While I have large amount of Hex / Torx / and other allen keys, they are all to short and don't quite seem to fit the head type. This makes me think I need a long T Handle Hex or Torx. I have these but sadly not at the location I am at currently.

I assume all of the BPS builds would have matching parts. If anyone knows the size and head types so I can run and buy a longer Harbor Freight special without needing to buy another complete second set, it would be appreciated.

I do not have the BPS edition, but for allen, torx, etc, I usually get a set of 1/4" or 3/8" drive like the set below as an example. This way if they are still too short I can always throw an extension on them and make them as long as I need and I am not limited by a tee handle. You can also put a torque wrench on them for proper torquing if needed. Only disadvantage is if they are too short and the socket they are in hits before mating up with the bolt head. Just my .02.

I like this color combo enough its got me thinking about trying to sell my A4, in nearly 30 years of owning guns I have never sold one, but I dont think I need 2 16in A4s even less so at 3400 a pop. tho this line of thinking also have me wondering about seeing if I can trade up from my SCAR 17 to an MR726.

The day I bought mine, I found the BPS SKU for it on my phone when one wasn't on the rack to buy. They used their stock app and found they had one in the back somewhere. Was still in the cardboard box it was shipped in. I always ask with stores that list things "limited supply." Really glad I did that day.

I had no intention of buying an A4 the day I walked into BPS. Once I found out they had a 762 model "still in stock in the back" and handled it, I dug the color combination more versus tracking down another black ano'd A1. While I wish all these colors were anodized, I still dig it as is.

I am not the biggest fan of the A4s handguard. And while this color is nice, I intend to eventually chop this down to 13". I follow a few websites / auctions to track down one of the various 9" rails. "Burnt Bronze" I guess is poor terming, as I believe its technically RAL8K anodized that I would look for handguard wise.

EDIT I now see it was your post that had the bronze esque HKeymod short rail, something similar to yours but I know they can be a bit hard to source. I would also switch the pistol grip to the more standard battle grip style I have on my A1 (In RAL of some sort.) Will see down the road what I truly want to swap out.

This gun being lighter and having a slightly different barrel profile and AGB leans it towards a lighter weight assaulter build. My A1 will eventually get bigger glass and some other parts to keep it as my primary hunting / tripod / bench shooting precision gun.

In regards to the various shades of RAL. I do have a P2000 in RAL7001, which the rail slightly matches and the plastic butt pad seems close as well. Other plastic parts I assume would be close to RAL8K adjacent but I only have HK black anodized metal / plastic parts to compare it to.

I love the green of the receiver, I think putting more anodized burnt bronze and other RAL parts will just make it pop even further.

Ended up going to a BPS / Cabela's to check out a consignment West German P226 they had. Ended up bringing this colorway MR762A4 home on a very unexpected whim. I love the various tones on it, and some of the A4 upgrades, but some not so much. Better pics to come as I track down burnt bronze pieces to cover it with. Will defiantly be getting the chopped assaulter build treatment overtime. A1 build for comparison.

The first pic is the MR762a4 from Cabela’s as I bought it.

After removing the handguard and comparing the a4 barrel to the a1 lightweight barrel (2nd gen a1 barrel), the a4 barrel appears to be an even lighter profile. (See second pic). I didn’t measure the two (do not have those type of tools), so I do not know for certain. Is anyone able to confirm this?

The last pic is after swapping out for HKey handguard, Adaptive grip, and Geissele charging handle. Ill swap in G28 buffer tube.

The MR762a4 I ordered arrived at my local Cabela’s today, so I went there after work, did the paperwork and picked it up. I am very impressed.

My first MR762 is BE date code, and I was purchasing Ral8000 parts back then when they were very rare and only a handful of parts were Ral8000.

in comparing this MR762a4 to my other Ral8000 setups, Unlike the past where I had to buy Ral8000 parts to replace black ones, this MR762a4 already has the parts swapped out.

I plan on replacing the buffer tube (which is cerakoted) with a G28 ral8000 buffer tube. Does anyone know if the castle nut is staked? It appears to be from looking at it, so I may need to get a new end plate as well.

I also plan on adding a Ral8000 slim HKey handguard, a Ral8000 grip with the replaceable side/back panels, and a geissele charging handle in DDC.

Other than that, this will be the easiest rifle I will have set up with Ral8000 and possibly the best looking.

It’s staked but HK does a single stake and you can reuse it. They also do a rectangular stake as opposed to a circular one.

If you do I’d highly recommend getting the patriot brown 11” pistol. The black one is type 3 hard anodized and it’s near impossible to anodize aluminum after already being type 3 anodized unless you remove enough material to take it out of spec. The patriot brown pistol is just cerakoted so it should be easier to anodize after being media blasted. Alternatively raid research has a multitude of custom cerakote designed to match anodizing from a number of different manufacturers.

I finally went to Cabela’s to check it out the MR556a4 with this new color in person. According to Cabela’s website, the color is “Dark Earth/Cobalt KineticGreen,” and it is a very nice color.

When I saw the pics, I originally thought the upper and lower were Patriot Brown. However, after seeing it next to Patriot Brown AR15s, it is clearly a different color.

I was not wanting to be another rifle just yet, but the improvements of the a4 over my a1 rifles and the fact that this color looks like an ideal cerakote match for the Ral8000 furniture I’ve been running over the years.

Did you take any pics?

10% for Club members today, plus a veteran/first responder (5% on guns) would knock it down in price.
