I’m a SiCo fan so Hybrid 46 or Omega 45K

 

+1 for the hybrid. I went with one for my first suppressor because of how modular it is. You can use it on rifle or handgun, from 9mm to 308. It’s the jack of all trades master of none type.

 

I run a hybrid 46 and I’ve been happy with it. It’s a bit chunky but I run it on my pistols and my rifles for hunting without issue.

 

B&T. Doesn't void your warranty with HK and is close in sound reduction to the KAC can for a quarter of the price.

 

I'm new to the forum. Are you allowed to mention dealers that might have them?

 

Not sure to be honest. I scored a KAC but met up with a local who had a B&T for his Mark 23.

Don't know of any dealers, but isn't there some sort of group buy for them here on the forum?

 

The Rugged obsidian 45 is worth a look.

I have a KAC, ordered a B&T current from group buy, but use a Osprey 45. The KAC is old school, looks cool, heavy and so so with sound reduction. I have been using a Osprey 45 since they came out many years ago on my shooter MK23. It is lighter, reduces the amount of sight picture loss, reduces sound very well and does not have a lot of blow back. I am certain it is not hurting the tank MK23 I own and use often.

Nothing like pig hunting from a bow stand (34 yards) with my MK23 and Osprey.

 

Maybe get a premium account and get in on the group buy for the B&T SOCOM MK23 which closes on the 8th

 

Unless there's been an update to the rules, buying the premium account does not give him access to the buy areas.

 

I def see the utility of getting a suppressor that can go on many different firearms, but I think I’m a bigger fan of finding something that was designed to be a perfect fit (for a given host). That’s kinda why I went with the surefire Ryder 9 mp5 for my sp5

I’m running the Silencerco Hybrid 46M - love it, but I’m on the list for the B&T.

 

If you have access to Expert Voice (any military or medical employee qualifies), you can get a cheap one that works just fine. Mine is in jail right now while I save up for a Mk23.

I’ve shot my Mark 23 with a Hybrid and while quiet, it’s massive, the Omega 45k looked great on it but was still poppy, and much prefer the Obsidian on it in terms of overall tone

Octane 45 HD is a good can for the money, and part of me does kind of want an Osprey just due to the looks but just know it probably won’t sound as good with the Obsidian.

 

Most people will tell you the best is the KAC OHG suppressor, but I've never been able to locate a dealer that has one. I've heard nothing but good stuff about the SWR H.E.M.S. II so as soon as I find a dealer with one I think I'll take the plunge and stop waiting on a KAC OHG.

 

SWR got bought by Silencerco in 2011. IIRC, the HEMS was pretty much immediately dropped from production.

 

I own a Silencerco Hybrid 46 and a Silencerco Octane 45 that I got in a BOGO a few years ago both work fine on my MK 23. The octane is a lot lighter and does not block the sights as much as the Hybrid.
The MK 23 is a great suppressor host.

The one thing about the hybrid though is that it can end up being more expensive. I got it for my first can thinking it would be a good start since it can go on a lot of platforms and it would save me money and time. Then I started buying all the different end caps (one for each caliber) and connection adapters. In the end I probably could have bought 2-3 different caliber dedicated suppressors lol

 

B&T is a good option. But also I like to run a dead air Ghost 45.

 

I run a SiCo Osprey 45 but may change it out at some point to something a little less bulky. the Osprey is very light and balanced in it though.

I have the Rugged Obsidian 45 for mine. Doesn't obscure the sights, and is super quiet. It's a good combo.

 

I was looking at the rugged obsidian and was wondering if the sights really cleared the can, so thanks for confirming. Do you find it walking off the barrel at all after multiple rounds firing, ie having to re-tighten? one of the biggest things to me about the KAC was the rubber o-ring in helping secure it to the barrel to prevent it loosening. But I dont know how much a problem that really is.

 

I also run the Osprey 45 on mine. Sounds great and the profile matches the gun. Looks great

 

Do you by chance have the LBT holster? If so, can you use it with the Osprey? I just ordered an LBT but not sure if it’s going to work with the Osprey attached?

 

Sorry it is a range toy to me and never thought of putting it in a holster. I don't think my arms are long enough to draw it with the can on it.

 

I get the appeal of the LBT, it's period nostalgia and it's cool to have, but I can't imaging running around with a thigh holster and a huge MK23 with a suppressor on it. I think maybe I'm just not tall enough to picture that looking right, ha.
