MR556: Question on proper installation of extractor spring/buffer

Just took apart my bolt and extractor for first time to apply some lube. After taking out the extractor, the spring and buffer assembly fell out. Upon reading the manual, it almost appear that the provided picture contradicts what the text says forinserting these parts back into the bolt.

Does the wider end of the extractor buffer (side that has the larger circle or base looking aspect to it) insert into the extractor in the cutout area, or does this flatter end lay flat on the inside of the bolt? From the diagram in the manual, it looks like this flat part is supposed to go against the inside of the bolt while the opposing end inserts into the cutout area in the extractor. I've included a link from hkpart below for reference. The 'flat' area I am referencing is the left sideof buffer in the pic.

Thanks for help on this.
