Every marine I’ve ever interacted with who vocally pushed for the prolonging of the M4’s lifespan was either weak or thought that 1.5” was going to make them super high speed low drag. 95% of Marines running the M27 saw an efficacy increase. It there a place for an M4. Maybe. Would it be way better if the marine corps just gave squad/team leaders a recon package style 13”-14.5” upper, way better. Also very very very few infantrymen are running M4s anymore. I’m not still in but I adjunct instruct and I haven’t seen an M4 in a victor unit for a long while (outside of officer issued)

I agree getting rid of the saw was a mistake but I also think the squad is better full of M27s than full of M4s with some saws.
I agree on a lot of what you said. The M27 I think is considered more high speed then an M4 though. 2/1 still has a lot of M4’s. My nephew is a Cpl with them 0311. He carries an M4 and M27 at different times. I retired in 2013. I still keep in touch with what’s going on it the Corps. My nephew at the Airport the day before the bombing in AStan My nephew is on the right Both armed with M27’s and KAC suppressors

From a guy who will never be that cool thank you and your family sir.

I would be curious if a 14.5" hk416A5 upper receiver with adjustable gas block would be a good upgrade from the M4A1. Possibly with a lighter profile then the current M27 16.5" to provide a light weight carbine option.

Thank you. A 14.5 would be cool. A lot of time we are people who make weapons a penis measuring contest..lol. All the top companies make amazing weapons. LMT, Colt, DD, KAC, HK, Sig and few others. I am blessed to be able to own most of these. Reliability, Accuracy and being proficient with said weapon is the goal. You can have the best of this or that but you need to be good with your main weapon.

Just picked up the MR762A4. Saw some posts that it may be an in between profile between the new LT barrels and the old heavy ones, but it looks the same as the current MR762 profiles. Here’s the A4 next to the old heavy, seems almost anorexic still in comparison!

Measures 19mm before the gas block, 17mm after.

I swapped a few components (nothing invasive) on my 762A4. Hopefully this answers some questions regarding the G28 stock and Geissele hand guard compatibility. I will say the N/S switch appears very tight in the channel of the Geissele HG. I will be reassessing this week, in better lighting, to confirm it clears although I felt no resistance while installing the rail.
I’ll be putting on a HUXWRX muzzle device this week, NF ATACR 4-16x42, and a bipod with hopes of getting it to the range next weekend.

Cheers

Wow that is beautiful. Sexy AF. Great job

Need to get a flash hider still, hope these new muzzle devices aren’t torqued on as hard as the A1s were. Also the A4 handguard is super light, 14.3 oz. I just like the patrol handguard’s width more.

They are hard to get off. The hardest one I’ve ever had to take off. Worse then MCX. If you can avoid it then do.
