I have not been on here in a long time so I apologize if you all already know this but I confirmed today at AUSA that the MR556A4 will be announced next month as one of the three new HKs.
So far I have been told I can’t afford one and I’m not qualified to post anything fit the narrative from the mods. What’s up with that? The discourse about the lack of chrome lining it’s a secret, that’s the biggest complaint since the the MR dropped on all the social media platformsI don’t think you’re qualified to say that a chrome lined barrel “is the one thing people wanted most”. There have been multiple threads on this topic over the years and many features that were included were frequently requested from the community such as short barrels, Ambi features, adjustable gas blocks, etc.
Yeah, the negative attitude he was receiving on this thread was a bit ridiculous; it definitely felt like shooting the messenger, especially since he was actively trying to engage with us. If we wonder why HK doesn’t listen to us, it’s because of reactions like that. Fortunately, James is well-established here, and I don’t think he’ll take it too personally. But can you imagine if that were someone new to HK, trying to engage with our community for the first time? They’d never come back.I am optimistic for the future because of HK USA's engagement on this forum. I believe them hiring James is another sign that they are willing to listen to customer feedback. James has done a lot for the HK community so no need to be a **** to him. Happy to have someone like him advocating for the civilians. / non-SOTs. He is new as an official member of HK so don't shoot the messenger
My statement is accurate. Did you conduct any polling or market survey to gather data on whether a chrome-lined barrel “is the one thing people wanted most”? No, you didn’t, it’s just your perception, and it likely isn’t as widely held as you believe. Sure, there are plenty of people who want a chrome-lined barrel (myself included), but others might prioritize ambidextrous controls, an adjustable gas block, or another feature over the chrome-lined barrel. So far I have been told I can’t afford one and I’m not qualified to post anything fit the narrative from the mods. ok don’t voice concerns don’t criticize hk. Wait for years to get upgrades and be told they don’t believe we need chrome lining when it’s been asked for a lot. This shouldn’t even be a complaint.Yeah, the negative attitude he was receiving on this thread was a bit ridiculous; it definitely felt like shooting the messenger, especially since he was actively trying to engage with us. Being an HK fan means having to be patient, patient with product development, product launches, and product availability. We need to extend that same patience to James. I believe he will advocate on our behalf, not only to help HK USA be more successful but also because he genuinely cares about our community.
Did you/they/he expect a different reaction just because the it came from a familiar face?Yeah, the negative attitude he was receiving on this thread was a bit ridiculous; it definitely felt like shooting the messenger, especially since he was actively trying to engage with us. The concern has been voiced, the complaint has been made, the feedback has been received by an HK USA employee here in this thread. At this point it’s just whining and negativity, which isn’t productive and adds no value.ok don’t voice concerns don’t criticize hk. If a rifle is more than 2MOA, it becomes a shovel. It depends on what you mean by "last".
Hold a level of accuracy?
Throat errosion/fire cracking?
Velocity drop off?
Ballpark....and I mean ROUGH ballpark on a semi-auto 5.56 not being shot foolishly, if you're willing to accept up to 4 MOA, probably 35-40k of barrel life on a CL CHF. So a few sets of gas rings and a recoil spring or two at least worth of parts.
I would concur, but as noted heavily in this thread, needs vary greatly. If a rifle is more than 2MOA, it becomes a shovel.
I expect people to be civilized and act with some level of maturity. Especially when a representative from HK USA was taking time to better understand consumer preference, and explain the company’s philosophy and approach. And yes, James is one of us, and I would expect people to give him the benefit of the doubt. Don’t confuse his explanation of the why behind not chrome lining the barrel with him intoning the argument for it. I’m confident a James will take the feedback to those that need to hear it, and with some luck it will translate into a positive development for this community. It certainly won’t hurt the situation.Did you/they/he expect a different reaction just because the it came from a familiar face?
We don’t know for sure, but I’d say it’s highly likely that this rifle will have a semi-auto carrier, the barrel extension tab that prevents the installation of a full-auto bolt carrier, and the corresponding relief cut on the bolt carrier.@asillasitgets sorry if this has been answered - is the BCG full profile or semi only. What profile are the barrels? are they backwards compatible with clone correct gas blocks?
That and they could probably use all the accuracy they can get. CL takes away from that. 🤭The vast majority of the people buying these will never shoot it enough for the chrome-lined barrel to make a difference, including a lot of the commenters here.
Gotcha so literally the opposite of everything everyone was asking for. Please don't dismiss my disappointment as irrelevant because you know that's not the case.We don’t know for sure, but I’d say it’s highly likely that this rifle will have a semi-auto carrier, the barrel extension tab that prevents the installation of a full-auto bolt carrier, and the corresponding relief cut on the bolt carrier.
I do apologize if I have come across that way.The concern has been voiced, the complaint has been made, the feedback has been received by an HK USA employee here in this thread. At this point it’s just whining and negativity, which isn’t productive and adds no value.
I have no illusion James is doing his job. Those who A) live under your roof or B) pay your bills always have a say. Honestly I'm 95% sure James has me on his ignore list anyways.I expect people to be civilized and act with some level of maturity. Especially when a representative from HK USA was taking time to better understand consumer preference, and explain the company’s philosophy and approach. And yes, James is one of us, and I would expect people to give him the benefit of the doubt. They're still clinging to the CL reduces accuracy angle.I’m buying one or more either way, idc about the chrome lined barrel. If I want, I’ll have the barrel chrome lined or nitrided myself.
I am curious though. What’s the real reason HK USA didn’t chrome line them when they know that almost everybody wanted it?
Was it cost?
Did HKO tell them they weren’t allowed to?
Clearly it’s not because HK USA believed the 11” version to be a real match rifle.
