P2000 357 or USP Compact 357

Hello again :)

I am wondering, is the P2000 in .357 bigger than the USP Compact in .357 ??

I am of course talking about the grip width and length (not height)
If the exchangeable grip pads allow me to make the grip longer than on the USP Compact, then that would be my choice, but it would have to be possible to make it as long (horizontally) as the USP Fullsize 9/40 grip though.

Trying to figure out if it is worth it to get a P2000 over a USP Compact or whether the Compact actually might have an edge over the P2000 somehow.

Also, is the P2000 .357 upgraded technically in any way over the USP/USP Compact? Anything different in there?

Can I get a bobbed hammer on the P2000?

Can I get any bigger magazines than the 12 round 357 mag? Like there is a possibility in the 9mm version for a 16 round mag with an extended magwell or something, over the regulare 13 round 9mm mags, is there a possibility of doing this with the 357 also, and get more than 12 rounds?

Thanks.

Not sure about all the questions but I know a bobbed hammer on the P2000 comes with the LEM trigger. I've never seen a way to make the grip longer on a compact but I'm not sure.

I'm under the impression the improvements of the P2000 over the USPc are mostly cosmetic, with better ergonomics. Some consider the USPc more robust. Safety vs no safety. Standard rail v. proprietary. Some differences might be a big deal to some but they are all subjective. In all the reviews and comments on this site it always boils down to get your hands on both and pick the one that feels best to you.

Hmm, yeah. But I am not in a position to get my hands on both. Nobody has them in stores anywhere that is within half a days travel from here or less.

But after reading the other thread about the P2000 from 2004 being equipped with a microchip, I am veeeery unsure about the whole P2000 thing...

Seems to me like the chip being ACTIVATED is the only thing optional about it, but I bet it still can be tracked if big brother decides to just start tracking anyway. Someone almost pushed a microchipped jacket on me last year too, for "avalanche safety". I was like "Did you just say TRANSPONDER?"

Always under the radar... :)

.357 Sig

+1 I saw that in my new catalouge great price for NIB USPc V1 just my 2 cents.I'm thinking of buying one just to have, for that price. :300000000: Also just so you know USPc needs adapter for lights or lasers the P2000 is a standered picatanny rail.

Nope, haven't, but it doesn't come in any other size-range in any gun, and if anyone can shoot it, it's me.

Besides the P2000 isn't really a compact, it's a small fullsize (in my book...)

Yes the V3 P2000 and P30 both have the same rear mounted decocker (the best on any gun IMO).

Go to your local gunshop/show and check out the USPc and P2000. If they don't have the .357sig instock the 9mm and .40 are the same size.

I've ordered 2 USP C in 357 Sig over the last couple months from CDNN, love em both..... The kick isn't too bad, it is a nasty round, but it is fun. Make sure and buy your target ammo from ammoman.com, cheapest around for the .357 Sig speer lawman.

Order one before they are gone.

The P2000 is safe to carry with a round in the chamber and hammer decocked, right?

Also, can I buy a bobbed hammer and have it fitted to the P2000 DA+SA version? (is it a special hammer for the P2000 or can I use a USP fullsize 9/40 hammer that I have laying around here?)

Here are some comparison pics. The P2000 has the large backstrap on. I agree the P2000 is more comfortable and I can get a higher grip on it because its more contoured, however there is just something about the compact I like more. I think I prefer cocked and locked too. And I ride the slide release on the P2000, that doesn't happen on the compact. If .357 is what you want I would jump on that offer from CDNN, but that's just me.

Just got of the phone with Ken at HK. He does not have a time frame for when the P30 in .40 will be coming. As of now the P30 in 357 Sig looks like a no go. Worldwide sales for this round is not that big. As others here have mentioned. At least I can buy the P2000 in 357 Sig. :830:
