Curious about the FPS one can get out of each of the three barrel lengths for the PTR 32 (16", 12.5", 8.5"). Has anyone ever chronographed any of these firearms? Thanks.

I have all three, never chronoed them but have suppressed the 12" K gun using a Silencerco Chimera. (Basically a ruggedized Omega 300)

My experience with the suppressed 12" gun suppressed is not great. With the "standard" (as I am not 100% sure which is standard for the 12") 70 degree and/or 65 degree locking piece there is A LOT of gas to your face and recoil and rate of fire in auto on a normally soft shooter kicks up a notch.

I have shoehorned in in 55 and 58 degree locking pieces with some minimal improvement but the bolt gap drops under spec and ejection without the suppressor becomes pretty anemic and I think the 55 may have had some FTEs.

I have even put in a standard G3 45 degree locking piece which helps even more with gas to the face and ROF/recoil (I was kinda surprised the gun still cycled with a 45) but without the suppressor attached and the 45 degree LP you are looking at a single shot weapon.

Also at least in my experience the 45 degree locking piece also required changing the rollers out as bolt gap drops to zero so I stuffed in some +4 roller (if memory serves correctly) to get at least some bolt gap.

My takeaway was that the platform is gassy and the powder in most 7.62x39 rounds is well "not pleasant" To get it tolerable you need to run a 45 degree locking piece but you are then faced with a gun that doesn't function without the can on and it also requires a roller change to get even minimal bolt gap with that 45 degree LP.

I was considering just building a new bolt carrier group for dedicated suppressor use so I could just swap carriers at the range or in the field as needed for suppressed/unsupressed shooting. At that point looking at building a ~$500 bolt carrier group to shoot suppressed and the experience still wasn't great I lost interest. Ultimately I figured the $500 investment would be better spent toward a new 30 cal low back pressure suppressor instead with hopefully better results.

Not sure this is helpful or not but good luck with whatever you decide.

There is a YouTube channel by the name "Range Toys" he has short videos about his suppressed hk clones including a 32P (he has A LOT). I haven't gotten deep enough into these weapons to start suppressing them (it sounds very difficult) so not sure how informative just the videos are by themselves. But who knows, the owner of the channel may be willing to answer questions...
