What kind of round counts does everyone have through their HK products, and how often do you run then at the range? For those HK products, what rough percentage of your range trips and ammo usage involves the use of those products?
I ask these questions as an inquiry into what typical HK owners have in mind for their weapons. Are they collector's pieces? Are they range toys? Are they serious home or self-defense tools? If they are the latter, are you getting enough range time with those designated defensive weapons?
I'll start out by saying that I just put 200 rounds through my VP9 during its first range trip, and thousands more are going to follow those. Before I got the VP9, I put close to 20,000 rounds through my top four handguns over the course of 18 years that I was actually in the U.S., and that doesn't count time I spent with many, many other firearms in the inventory. On average, I can say that I've gone through over 1000 rounds per year of .45 ACP and/or 9mm with just those weapons, and I see this VP9 getting the same treatment for years to come because it has now replaced one of those top four for me as a new top-four club member.
