Based upon the information that I have:

1. (IK/1989)- SN's 21-1300X through 21-1562X
2. (KA/1990)- SN commencing around 21-1593X
3. (KD/1993)- highest SN 21-2762X

So . . . 2600-2900 (IK/1989) SP89's would be my best estimation.

Based primarily on the SN's, around 14,000-15,000 total!!!

wonder how mamy have been modified, perhaps 1/2 of the total?? Im thinking it may actually become a modern day rarity in its pure form?

 

Thanks Tony for the information, always good to get everyones thoughts. Mine is one that is fully converted, as I could not enjoy it's full potential without it. Mine is an "IK" coded 89 with a serial #1383X. I mainly shoot my Vector for stress relief as to keep milage down on the SBR'd 89.

Vic, you will probably be right about a NIB 89 being a special piece of history in the not to distant future. In the mean time I will have to use mine in my lifetime to enjoy fine engineering!

I am glad to help the cause of the NIB SP89 owners out there, I hope I rais:150000:ed your value by converting mine!

 

i bought my sp89 in early 91 and it was in early in 91 when they stopped importing them. when the A.T.F. saw that they were
being sold with the k grip forearm they put a instant stop to it the buyers in 89,90,and early 91 received the k grips with there guns.
