The wait is over! There is finally an extended rail available for the MR762.

I was fortunate to get my hands on a rail from Val and his team at Sureshot Armament Group. Out of the box the fit and finish are outstanding. It feels considerably narrower than the stock quad rail (even beyond the difference in diameter) and allows for a comfortable solid grip either thumb forward or thumb over bore. It has key mod slots at 3,6,9 o'clock and a picatinny rail the full length of the top rail. It mounts solid to the barrel nut with two recessed mounting bolts. A feature that allows the hand to be drawn all the way back towards the lower receiver without running into the head of a mounting bolt.

The rail weighs in at 12.8 oz and can be seen here compared to the stock 9" quad rail

My main indication for needing a longer rail was to run the rifle in 3 Gun competitions in Heavy Optics Division. For me, the 9" stock rail was a severe limitation for dynamic offhand shooting as my support hand was drawn in too close to my torso. I've got long arms and prefer to extend my grip out further to the muzzle to better manage recoil and steady the barrel for follow up shots. This rail has enabled me to set up my Heavy rifle with the same profile as my Tac optics MR556.

In this configuration they weigh exactly the same, 11 lbs 0 oz.

The longer rail also allows for better weight distribution and balance in suppressed offhand shooting.

So far I have only had it out for a couple of range sessions and it has performed as expected. Will report back after I run it in a couple of 3 Gun matches.
